At Spokane Dental, we love to see you smile. Really, we do. Dentistry has advanced by leaps and bounds over the years. Now, almost anything can be accomplished with the right technology and know how. We use the latest technology and strive for excellence by regular participation in continued education so we are current with the latest improved techniques, procedures, and materials.
For the majority of our patients we recommend having an oral examination and dental cleaning (prophylaxis) every six months. The exam allows us to screen for decay and other oral diseases. Our hygienists use scalers and other instruments to remove plaque, tartar and stain that you are not able to reach with a toothbrush or floss.
A dental filling is used to restore the shape and the structure that is lost due to dental decay or any other problem like accidents or trauma. Modern dentistry offers us with many options when it comes to dental fillings unlike ancient times when options were limited. Dental fillings can be of different types like gold, silver amalgam or composite resin.
In December of 2014 the practice purchased a cone beam x-ray unit. Cone beam imaging is relatively new technology to dentistry but is having a profound effect on the way dentists can now gather information. Cone beam scans use a cone-shaped beam that is directed to a detector that rotates around the patient.
Root canal procedures are quite common and usually performed in order to save a tooth that is in jeopardy and in danger of being extracted. Root canal treatments are performed in our office, and in some cases you may need to make more than one visit, or Dr. Smith may refer you to a specialist for the procedure.

I live in Vancouver Washington and drove with my husband the 5 1/2 hours to visit relatives in Spokane. I was not here 4 hours I and got a terrible toothache. My sister in law is a patient of Dr Smith and called the next day explaining my situation. I got in that morning to see the doctor. He took X-rays and treated me with an antibiotic and pain reliever until I could see my own dentist. I was so relieved just to have someone look at the tooth. The staff was professional and sympathetic to my painful situation. Within a few hours the pain diminished considerably and I was able to finish visiting

My wife and I have been patients at the Smith Family Dental Clinic since we moved to Spokane in 2013. We are impressed with the quality of their work and the friendliness of their staff.
