I’ll start by saying our server was super attentive, so my complaint isn’t with the service, but with the terrible food quality.
Both my husband and I got food poisoning after eating here. It was basically like wayyy overpriced Holiday Inn restaurant quality food, if not decidedly worse (because I spent the evening vomiting, and he was also ill within 30min of leaving the restaurant).
Somehow we spent $100 on an appetizer (4 oysters) + two main dishes that **didn’t include sides** just the entree. He had the bouillabaisse and I had the salmon. He said the scallops and shrimp were overdone

Very disappointed with our dinner last night. NOT like the old Waypoint. I had the bouillabaisse and was hoping for more. It consisted of two shrimp, two scallops, a small fish filet and some vegetables. Way over priced. The bread they gave us was hard as a rock. The new management has two other restaurants that are pretty good and we were excited to see them take over this location, but last night's meals were not worth the money. The menu is very limited as well. Hopefully things improve, but I would not rush back

Undoubtedly the best place in Williamsburg for ambiance and great food. My husband and I came here for the first time. Reservations recommended. Wait staff is perfect. Well trained and very attentive.
We had the special of James river oysters with tuna tartar. Outstanding. I've sampled oysters all over the world this presentation is #1, flavor perfect. Just the right amount of heat to make it a pleasure.
Main course was seared scallops. Again perfection in flavor and presentation. The sauce added just the right finish.

An absolute 5 star restaurant. We started with a bruchetta board which was absolutely delicious. We both had the pan seared scallops with the palenta again, delicious. The scallops we large and cooked to perfection. They melted in your mouth. They had a nice lounge area you can sit in while waiting for your table which we both enjoyed. A really cool way to handle your guests while waiting to be seated. Staff was extremely friendly and the GM Jen stopped by the table and chatted which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back when in Williamsburg.

We came here for our anniversary dinner about 5 years ago. The service was outstanding and the food was superb. We have eaten in restaurants all over the world, and this one is a gem. So much so, that I still think about it and have wished we could return over the years. the duck risotto was particularly memorable, but I don’t know if it’s still on the menu. I was very excited when I found out we were getting stationed here. Then dismayed to find out they had to close. I am praying they are able to open back up.

We came here while visiting Williamsburg during our wedding anniversary. From the hostess, waitress, and managers everyone was phenomenal. I order calamari for the appetizer and crab melt on an English muffin. We randomly found this establishment after just reading reviews on Yelp. I will definitely make sure we visit when we come back to Williamsburg. My husband had the salmon tacos and he enjoyed those as well.

Excellent food and service. Salads and soups are amazing. Seafood is cooked to perfection. Deserts and all food is homemade and beautifully presented. Great place to take a client for a business lunch or a family for a fancier experience. Decor is retro classic coastal. Tables are round with cloth table clothes. Now you can sit at the bar to eat or drink. Prices run $15-$25 for lunch.

My mom and I came to Waypoint for dinner on our overnight trip to Williamsburg. We did not have a reservation but there was a hightop table available that was great for us. This was one of our first indoor dining experiences in a year and we felt very comfortable at our table as it was separated from the rest of the diners, and all of the staff were wearing masks/face shields.
The bread basket was delicious -- I loved the cornbread muffins! My mom ordered the mahi mahi and I ordered the chicken. I really enjoyed my dish -- the chicken was flavorful, the accompanying veggies were cooked well, and

Five stars for their hospitality alone. The food itself was a range of 3-5 stars, but they really won us over with the hospitality.
Highlights:
- the kid meal for $10 was an incredible deal: full-sized cheeseburger/fresh parmesan butter pasta/5 large chicken tenders + side (fruit, onion rings, fries, etc.) + Ice cream cookie sandwich for dessert
- they made sure to keep refilling our kids hot cocoa
- mini cornbread+whipped butter was very memorable
- focaccia bread - very flavorful and pillowy soft
Good but not amazing:
- the snickers torte was yummy and had good elements such as salted caramel

Went out for dinner tonight and had the most AMAZING dinner. We started with the southern sampler that included fried green tomatoes, country ham, deviled eggs, cheddar biscuits and pimento cheese.
I had seared scallops and shrimp and I added lobster with drizzled butter on stone ground aged cheddar grits, seasonal greens with a lobster tomato nage.
My fiancé had classic Weiner schnitzel, veil cutlet, red cabbage, herb spatzle and lemon caper brown butter sauce.
There was also bread and corn muffins with butter, ham salad and dilled butter pickle chips. Didn't take a pic of that. One

From the quaint dining room to the friendly staff and the amazing food, Waypoint is definitely on our list to visit again! We visit Williamsburg often but have never visited Waypoint until now. That was a mistake. We made reservations and were quickly seated and the staff was very attentive.
The Southern Sampler appetizer and bread basket was a meal in itself. My wife enjoyed the shrimp/scallops and grits--the best scallops she's ever had. I am a sucker for crab cakes and these cakes made my mouth explode with taste! The portions are huge and we can't wait to return and try some snitzel

We enjoyed an amazing dinner this week to celebrate our anniversary. Excellent food and wine choices (calamari appetizer can feed two people easily!). The shrimp scallops and grits were incredible.

One of the best Virginia seafood restaurants I have enjoyed in 2020! Random last minute trip to Williamsburg and made a reservation. Had the beet salad, oma salad, Chesapeake rockfish and Shellfish and grits. We really enjoyed the Chehalam Pinot Gris. Such a wonderful meal with impeccable service. So many times a staff member asked how we were doing. The owner came by several times. This is a restaurant you NEED to go to for any occasion. Wine. Fish. Dessert.

I normally do quite a bit of research before I try a new restaurant. In this case, my initial pick did not have any openings for the time/day. So, I decided to give this place a try. I was hesitant, but so glad I did. Everything was spot on. The service by our waitress was beyond excellent and the food was stellar. Everything I ate was flavorful and well plated. I had the shellfish and grits and it was superb. My wife had the crab cakes and I've never had crab cakes with so much pure crab. Just enough bread crumbs to be a binder. We shared the crab bisque and it was incredible. We finished

The customer service was impressive and the food was delicious. The reason I gave them four stars is due to their cocktails. I ordered and mojito and it was the worst mojito I have ever tasted in my life. My wife ordered another cocktail and it was below average. They need to improve on their drinks or just stop serving. Next time we just drink wine. Also, they need to expand a little bit in their menu.

Excellent meal that started with pickles and ham relish. It was served with focaccia and mini sweet corn muffins. Very very good. My wife had the salmon. The fish was perfectly cooked. She loved the taste of it. I had crab cakes and they were heavenly. Would definitely return there just for them. Best crab cakes I have had at a restuarant. My son had a burger and it was cooked perfectly and he enjoyed it. Overall, will return here when I am in the area again. Great food. Staff was really nice. Thanks for having us.

Waypoint ruined our 15th Wedding Anniversary!
Do you enjoy paying $40 for 3 oz. of rockfish, cut from the tail end of the filet - and with some of the bloodline included? Do you have money to burn? Do you enjoy bartenders who insult you and squeeze newly arriving diners next to you so close that you are rubbing elbows? Then you'll LOVE Waypoint!
I had that evening's rockfish and broccolini special. Let's do some quick math. Rockfish currently sells for $9.95/lb (16 oz) at wholesale. That means the meager 3 oz. portion I received for dinner cost Waypoint a whopping $1.87

We've been to Waypoint once before, and everything was great. Tonight, though, there were all kinds of problems.
Our entrees took an hour to come out after just a Cesar salad appetizer. When it did arrive, my husband's food was dry, my lobster was undercooked, and there rest of my dinner was barely lukewarm.
On top of that, our server was rude, and service in general was disappointing. I would be willing to go back if someone I know really wanted to go, but if I have a choice, I'll opt to go elsewhere.

This place is a wonderful find. Tucked into a shopping center, you will be happy as soon as you walk in. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and absolutely divine food. We started out with the crab bisque topped with lump crab. The waypoint oysters are wonderful as well. For the main entree we had the flounder special. Will certainly be back!

I attended a business luncheon here this past week and all I can say is wow! I was greeted with a smile the second I walked in the door. The waitstaff is attentive, knowledgable, and friendly. We had a limited menu of items due to the size of our group, but it offered enough options that any dietary needs could be accommodated. I started with the crab, tomato, and jalapeño bisque. It definitely pleased the taste buds with the combination of flavors. There is only a touch of jalapeño to add a nice smokey hint of southwestern flavor to the soup, so don't shy away from trying it if you are afraid

One of my favorite art shops...
No really, I eat with my eyes before grabbing a fork and Waypoint doesn't disappoint. What goes better with crispy calamari besides jalapeños? Really delicious, the peppers add a fresh flavor to the dish. For the crab lovers, the deviled crab is to die for. Can't get enough of the roasted beats set off perfectly with the pear sweetness. Really,,,, just shrimp and grits..... yawn.... how about creamy grits with seafood. Now your talking to my senses! Serves lunch and dinner in an elegant setting. Truly a masterpiece created daily by the artists in the kitchen

Classy environment, service was decent. I had the warm Thai salad, which was very good. For dessert, I had the snickers tarte to go. Would have given 5 stars if the server checked in on us a little more, the service was a little slow and food took a while to come out (especially considering the fact we came during a slow lunch hour)
