I've been going to Patti's for years. And first went there because the person I was working for had been going for years before that. I have absolutely no qualms about trusting what Patti and her mechanics have to say. I 100% trust them. They've helped me weather the many and various repairs for two twenty year old Honda Civics. And Patti has cute dogs too!

I came to do a full check up on my car. The team found out what went wrong and being very honest about their findings. I requested to repair other parts and they said they were still in good shape so only stick to their initial diagnostics. They didn't try to add things I don't need. Really appreciated that. Professional and honest! That's what we need these days.

I have a 2007 Mazda 5, which is a fairly rare vehicle (even the dealers don't fix it).
This time, my wife smelled gas in the car. I checked under the car, the hood, the gas filler, and could not find a leak. Online, Patti's mentioned Mazdas and had good reviews, I called and Patti scheduled me in.
She explained what it could be and what it might take, but just charged a minimum fee to look at it. She got back to me in the day that she had not found it but needed another day.
The next day she got back to me that the fuel pump was leaking due to impact and

I have brought my Nissan Rogue 2x now into Patti's recommended shop and both times I can feel and hear my car runs better. She is first mechanic to know of what some of us Nissan problematic. CVT owners are dealing with. I appreciate her team & her wisdom & her commitment to a great shop. This is the second time Patti and her crew have rescued me from severe automotive distress. The first was last year, when some low-lifes sawed off my catalytic converter. I got a bad vibe from the first place I took my car, and decided to give Patti’s a try. They had it ship-shape in no time at all, were incredibly professional and friendly, and charged me less. Been taking my vehicles here for 20 years. After I moved to Portland, Oregon, I would literally wait until I came to California again just so I could take my cars to Patti's. Thank you for saving me $700! First time in, on recommendation from a friend. Dealership had told me I needed spark plug and valve adjustment. Patti quoted me $200 less than the dealership and I came in prepared to fork over a chunk of change. After looking it over, Patti told me it wasn't needed yet, and what to watch for. Outstanding service and integrity! Am actually from San Diego, but was in Berkeley for a few days. My Toyota Sienna dashboard came up with a " check engine" sign on Friday evening was scheduled to drive back sat noon. Didn't want to risk the long drive back to San Diego the next day so made an appt online for sat 8:30 am, with details re being from San Diego etc.. Prepared myself mentally for couple of hundreds dollars work of repairs ( new city, new/ unknown repair shop). I have been here 2x now and both times I felt like they were being honest about what was going on with my car, and explaining it all to me very clearly. A lot of other places try to make you pay for needless things but that definitely wasn't the case here. The prices were reasonable and the work is great! They are incredibly nice and welcoming and I will definitely be coming only to Patti's from now on! Plus they have 2 amazing small dogs in the office that make getting your car worked on a lot less stressful!

My 99 Honda fairly quickly began to feel hot and uncomfortable and humid while driving on warm days. I suspected the Air Conditioning so checked out the temperature coming from the ducts, etc. and the A/C had failed.

Toyota of Berkeley told me I needed more than $2,500 of repairs for my 2010 Prius, including new brake pads and a reseal of my timing chain case.
When I called around to find quotes for a cheaper deal, I talked to Patti who said "You should have me look at it first." (She gave a firm "Hmmm..." when I told her my car was evaluated at the dealership.)
Turns out the brake pads were fine, as awas the timing case. All that was needed was an O-ring repair for less than $300!

She replaced the battery.
Yet the very next day, the check engine light went on, prompting another $350 in repairs. Repairs that were not found when the first computer diagnostic was run before the battery replacement.

It was obvious that my car needed major repairs. Patti was honest with me about pricing early on. Had plenty of time with no pressure, even some concerns that moving to a new car could be better than her team to perform the work.
The pricing was very fair! Checked prices for parts / labor and these were below average prices - truly saved me money. I was near tears at the level of kindness, thoughtfulness, and honesty experienced at her shop.
Very happy customer with an old but working car for at least one or two more years!!
