The Rockin Chicken is a family owned restaurant that is creating and plating authentic Peruvian food. In addition, we are also the only Hartford area restaurant serving Charcoal Rotisserie Chicken cooked in a rotisserie oven that was specially crafted and shipped from Peru. Our chickens are marinated for 24 hours in a "secret" family recipe and the result are chickens that are juicy, moist and succulent.
Services
The story of the Rockin Chicken starts while I was growing up in Lima, Peru. Going with my family to Pollerias a la Brasa as we call restaurants specializing in charcoal rotisserie chicken, was almost a weekly tradition. It is in these restaurants that Peruvian families get to enjoy chickens perfectly cooked in fiery charcoal rotisserie ovens.

The Rockin Chicken opened in 2016 at 476 Franklin Avenue in Hartford, not far from owner Dr. Miguel Coln's chiropractic practice. Miguel has always dreamed of opening a restaurant like his mother's in Peru. Recently interviewed in the Hartford Courant, Miguel explained he knew he wanted to serve "rotisserie chicken, slowly spit-roasted to perfection."

I recently moved to the area but I've been passing by this place for quite a while so I decided to try it out for myself and the food is tasty but it does have a unique flavor that may not suit everybody's taste, it's cooked very well, the flavor is on point although the prices for the chicken wings are a little bit too high so I did not try them as of now but I did an order of a quarter chicken breast with two sides, I ordered the fries also I chose the macaroni a la Huancaina, the macaroni and cheese was very good as far as the cheesiness in the al dente pasta but the pepper seasoning through

Benefit yesterday fund-raiser for employee who escaped from Hartford fire this month was the reason the restaurant was open on Monday. That fit my master plan so I enjoyed take-out last night and am ready for tonight also. For dinner last night I dressed it up with my quarter chicken [dark], chaufa and platanos with an Inca Cola. The chicken was checked just right like they always do at Rockin Chicken. The chaufa, fried rice, was the usual goodness I love. For dinner tonight I will have the Aguadito soup which looks amazing and just got a ripe avocado to add to that rice blend. Always the best

Ordered the whole chicken combo with Pesto pasta, Totones, and Peruvian Beans.
Food took time to arrive, but that was understandable since the place was busy. The food was freshly prepared, and worth the wait.
Chicken was perfectly cooked - tender and juicy. Sides were all delicious, and the sauces complement all the dishes really well.
Would definitely order again.

Got lucky and the Rockin Chicken was at Yard Goats Stadium for a game. We were so excited to see something other than your traditional greasy stadium food (which is still always needed). We tried the fried rice and chicken skewers - AMAZING. My husband couldn't stop talking about the food so we decided to look it up. We will make it a point to visit this place in their standard location. Excellent and SO glad we gave it a try at the game!

Anyone who knows us knows that we are suckers for a good plate of a chaufa. So after seeing a local review of RC, we thought it would be worth the gander!
We did online ordering and chose the pollo chaufa (chicken fried rice) and the arroz con pollo bowl (chicken with rice).
It was very clean inside and we received our order right away. We noticed some apparel for sale next to the counter, but kind of wished the staff mentioned it, maybe as an add on to our order. We have to admit we're feeling real spendy with our stimmy.
The pollo chaufa has nice chunks of red peppers and satisfying

I once dated a Peruvian woman. BEST food ever. I missed it dearly until I found this spot. Working my way through the menu. The Papa Rellena is mouth watering. My all time favorite dish is Ceviche and theirs really takes me back. And my least favorite dish Lomo Saltado was so good from here I couldn't stop eating it. I'm a sucker for a good sauce and they have 2 delicious pepper sauces and jumbo roasted corn! Affordable and full of flavor plus you can order online.
Highly Recommended: if you care about yourself and your taste buds

It pains me to think that I have NOT written a review for not only one of my favorite local take out "joints" but also one of my favorite restaurants in the area.
This might be a fast casual restaurant but there is nothing fast or casual about the love and care that is put into each Peruvian dish that comes out of their kitchen.
I live for their chicken (and a diet Inca Cola) and the sauces that accompany each of their coal roasted (the only one in the area) chicken. Not a fan of Chicken - don't worry they have a variety of seafood (I recommend the ceviche) or meat (I recommend

My first time trying this Peruvian food spot. I have had Peruvian food before from this area. Location is on a main street and easy to locate. There are several spots in the lot, in from of the restaurant. There is also street parking in the front and to the left of the store front. There is plenty of seating available. The restaurant has an open floor plan. I ordered lunch on a Tuesday, around 2pm. Food was ready as advised on the phone within 15-20 min. Food was sub par compared to other Peruvian restaurants. The friend Rice was tasted like fried rice anyone can make at home. The chicken was

I really loved the food I had at the Rockin Chicken. They had some delicious fish ceviche and tres leches cake. We also had tostones, lomo saltado, and their mac and cheese. Everything was good, but the portion of beef was pretty small. I wasn't a fan of the fast food- type atmosphere, or the slow service, but I'm sure I will go back for the ceviche and dessert! I might just do takeout next time.

Food here is very flavorful. Chicken fried rice and lomo saltado are my favorite entrees here. Both are very flavorful. The home made drinks here are something which shouldn't be missed. Passion fruit has intense flavor, while chicha morada is smooth and refreshing. Crema volteada is a good variety of Flan.

No need to travel to Peru to get authentic, prepared with love, Peruvian food, because its right here in Hartford, CT, a few miles outside of the heart of the city. This no nonsense place serves up some killer food bursting with flavor that I have never experienced with this type of cuisine before. A family run establishment, The Rockin Chicken is exactly the type of place that you should invest your lunch and dinner money in because the yield pays off in dividends.

Wow! By now I have tried a few of the Peruvian restaurants in the area and I must say this one is my favorite by far. The atmosphere is chill and friendly and kinda hip with certain modern technology.
Most people rave about their chicken hence their name and although their chicken is delicious my favorite so far is the Jalea which is a variety of fried seafood accompanied with yuccas fries. The yucca fries were fresh, crispy and delicious.
They're in Grubhub which makes them even more convenient.

What a cool casual place! It's a lively small eatery with smiling friendly folks. At night it's full of families enjoying a good relaxing healthy meal together. It's located in an East Hartford neighborhood and Parking is mainly street.
For reasonable prices, we & our buddies have feasted on a huuuge amount of delicious Peruvian delights. We've enjoyed a large selection of drinks & smoothies plus Authentic Drinks, anticuchos (beef hearts), ceviche, yucca & plaintains, fried rice and the star of the show, Rockin chicken (we get rotisserie) It's juicy, perfectly

Heard this spot had excellent chicken, perhaps my expectations were unrealistically high, chicken was moist and tender but I expected more from a 24hr marinade rotisserie product. Fried yucca was very good, fried perfectly. The salad was enormous with a dressing that was absolutely fabulous. Forgot to take a photo of the tamal I ordered which is corn masa stuffed with meat, boiled egg and olive, a little bland but the accompanying marinated onions made a huge difference in the flavor.
Service was attentive and friendly and the portion sizes insure you'll get your monies worth.

I stopped by here this past Thursday by myself for dinner. The Rockin Chicken has been on my list of Yelp bookmarks for quite awhile so whenever I finally had a free evening and some time, I jumped at the opportunity to head there. The restaurant itself is located on the right of Franklin Ave. It's inside is bright and open with hardwood floors (or tiles that appeared as them) and a large number of tables with red seats. The walls are decorated with some photos from Peru as well as a single TV and the smell of charcoal from cooking their chicken permeates throughout making your mouth water

Saved all my weight watcher points for lomo saltado and well worth the sacrifice. Like everything else here, perfection. Delicious meat with onions and tomatoes served with home made fried potatoes and rice. The toughest part of coming here is choosing what to eat.....I love it all.
As always, perfect service and reasonable prices. Now, if I could find a way to fit the best flan in the world within my daily WW points....alas, have to pass on it tonight.
