The Treatment Philosophy of Michael Fernandez Family Dentistry is built on integrity. We strive to listen to our patients so we can clearly understand their desires, address their motivators and concerns, and help them define what dental health means for them. We accomplish this by completing thorough evaluations, utilizing all available technology, and sharing findings with patients to allow for co-diagnosis.
Her passion for dentistry began in 1998 when she became a dental assistant. She then went on to further her passion for providing oral health care and education to patients and graduated from Old Dominion in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. Kelly has been a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association since 2013 and is very active in her state and local component.
Jennifer is our Business Administrator and Dr. Fernandez' wife. She graduated from Duke University in 1994 and earned her MBA from the College of William and Mary in 2004. Jennifer has been working behind the scenes with the practice since the beginning, and has gradually become more visible in the office.
We accept most insurance plans (except dental HMO plans). Please call our office with any questions about how your insurance plan works in our office. Some of the larger plans we participate with are listed below. The GreenSky Patient Solutions Program offers revolving or installment loan financing options, making it possible for you to receive the dental treatments and services you want and need without delay.
Dental bonding is generally thought of as a cosmetic procedure, although composite resin fillings are completed using the same process. Dental bonding is performed to restore the natural shape of the tooth using a composite resin that matches the color of the tooth. Whether the tooth is misshapen due to accidental damage or discolored, bonding can be an inexpensive way to restore the tooth to its original shape and natural color.

Let me start off by saying I have dental anxiety, After I had a painful experience as an adult I could not get myself to a dentist. My heart raced just thinking about making a phone call.
This office was recommended to me by a co-worker. Thank Goodness she did.
I have had a tooth pulled and a major cleaning after 7 years of no care. I had no discomfort and the staff did not take my anxiety lightly. They were understanding and caring. I could not of asked for a better experience. They talked to me throughout the procedure. At one point the dental assistant held my hand while my tooth was pulled

I've gone here since I was a kid. Dr. Fernandez and the team here are a fantastic family. They've gotten me in for an emergency appointment before that same day. They send text messages and email reminders about your appointments. The facility is brand new. And best of all it works with my insurance :)

Thanks to Michael Fernandez Family Dentistry!! I have been a patient for over 5 years and I have only praise for this group of professionals. The staff is always courteous and friendly and helpful if I have to reschedule an appointment. The staff work well with each other and enjoy each other. No crabby people at this office!!! The atmosphere is upbeat and focused on care for their patients. In addition its close to Nordstrom Rack where I frequent after my dental visits!! Then I swing by Wegmans! I like being able to turn right onto S. Independence so the location is convenient. So awesome care

I have been going to Michael Fernandez dentistry for 11 years now and I will not even try out another dentist. Their office has all the best technology and it is beautiful. More than that the staff is always so friendly and do a great job to always make you comfortable. I am someone with very bad anxiety with doctors offices however as soon I spoke with the front desk the tone of voice relaxed me the office was beautiful and welcoming. Getting serviced by the treatment coordinator, Jessica, she was so friendly and helped me feel very relaxed being so informative. May, was the first one to walk me to the back and she was very bubbly and understanding which really put me at ease. Dr. Fernandez was very nice and straightforward describing everything he was doing and showed me everything he looked at and saw. This overall was the best experience I have ever had and

I previously had to cancel my regular cleaning, i called in to find out when they had an opening, and was able to get an appointment in 2 days. The appointment was right on schedule, Very friendly hygienist and thorough. Dr Fernandez performed the final inspection and talked to me about my general dental health. We discussed a possible bridge. He was very honest and offered a few options including ranking by cost, although each person is different because of insurance. Dr. Fernandez and his staff by far go above and beyond the call of duty. From my first consultation to the plan for my dental surgery I have been treated with extraordinary care and every step of my surgery was explained to me in detail. I am not a very good patient when it comes to working on my teeth. Dr Fernandez referred me to Dr Rais for the actual extraction of my teeth and Dr Fernandez put me at ease with the preparation for my dentures.
