Services
Since 2008, pet owners throughout the Inwood neighborhood have counted on Inwood Animal Clinic in New York City to preserve the health of their furry friends. From spay and neuter services to vaccinations, our veterinarians are available to take on a range of options for cats and dogs, including weight management, microchipping, flea and heartwood prevention, and skin treatments.
Did you know that each year your pet misses a physical examination is the equivalent to you not seeing your own doctor for 6 or 7 years? We all want our pets to have happy, healthy, long lives. Unfortunately, they can't always tell us when he or she isn't feeling well. Animals are masters at suppressing symptoms so as to not worry us.
Whether your pet broke a bone or is dealing with pain, an X-ray can signal the cause of the discomfort. Our on-site digital X-rays offer veterinarians and pet owners a safe inside look for every situation. X-rays aren't just for bones, it offers our veterinarians vital information about organ health by showing them the silhouette of the major organs.
Since 2008, pet owners throughout the Inwood neighborhood have counted on Inwood Animal Clinic to preserve the health of their furry friends. If you are not planning on breeding your pet at an early age, we strongly recommend spaying or neutering them. Doing so significantly reduces the chances of developing life threatening issues such as prostate cancer, mammary tumors, and uterine infections.
Have you looked inside your pet's mouth recently? Does it smell bad? They may need a dental scaling. This procedure typically involves anesthesia to sedate your pet, scaling tartar off your pet's teeth and gumline, and polishing to restore your pet's natural enamel. If your pet has not had any blood work done recently, pre-dental blood work would need to be done to check how organs such as the kidneys and liver are functioning.

Great service, very understanding and caring. Called around to compare prices for a couple services and they beat out competitors in that area as well. They’ve been a local spot for years and I’ve lost track of how many neighbors continually recommend their care and services.

Critical: Quality
This clinic is so rude. The vet and assistant were so disrespectful and kept making smart comments to me over my dog. They were belittling me about my dog. They didn’t fully examine her, they didn’t even weigh her. They didn’t do anything to her yet they were trying to charge me $600 without even telling me what was wrong with her.

My usual vet was closed so I called Inwood Animal Clinic. Lady who answered phone was very helpful and got me a same day appointment. They were on time and the vet tech and vet took great care of my dog. He's feeling better already. Might be my new vet going forward.

Our cat-daughter, Sophia, was a patient at Inwood Animal Clinic for many years until she had to be put down just shy of her 17th birthday in April 2021. Sophia was assigned to Dr. Jennifer Tsung as her primary vet. At first, Dr. Tsung saw her many times until they shifted their policy to assigning whatever vet was in-office that day. This resulted in a carousel of providers who saw Sophia over the years, often with very little knowledge of her health history or our concerns, which we would have to explain on the spot. This happened many times. The office is small and the waiting room often crowded

Inwood Animal Clinic bends over backwards to help their customers. They have been nothing but fantastic with assisting us with our pets and providing them with quality care. They have been extremely helpful and we will continue to take our pets here.

I we have been taking our 11- year old dog Ike to Inwood Animal Clinic for several years now. Dr. Tsung and her team treat Ike so well whenever he comes in for his appointments. In emergencies, they have always been accommodating by seeing him on those "off" occasions when he is seemingly not feeling well or has something else going on.
Ike has never been a sickly dog, but now that he is getting a little older, we make more visits. IAC provides Ike with comprehensive care and offers sound advice and makes referrals to outside specialty veterinarians when needed.
I would highly suggest

This clinic is very very good. The drs and aides there are special to me. I first went there when the vet closer to me couldn't see my cat Icarus soon enough.

Icarus was seen by Dr Kirk from here who, while it was insanely busy, gave quality, un-rushed time for my poor cat. I got very bad news when I was first there with Icarus. It was delivered with utmost compassion and care for Icarus as well as his owners.

Since then it's been... harder than I ever imagined. I watched the horror of bone cancer drain the life out of the sweetest cat in the world, somehow not making him any less

This is not the first time we been at Inwood animal clinic. Both of my dogs have been at there care for years. Last Saturday November 27 I took them for some vaccinations and grooming , when we went back to pick them up we were very dissatisfied with the services we received because they did not cut the hair correctly. We spoke with someone at the clinic and we explain the inconvenience and that person said that it was okay to bring them the upcoming Friday and Saturday. Today Friday the 3 we brought both of my dogs because they will fix the haircut. We arrive at 10 am and the appointment was at

Two years ago we took my 14 year old cat here, because she was vomiting and constipated. They deopstipated--a rather intense procedure for an elderly cat--her and put her on a small amount of stool softener, without diagnosing her per se. A year later, the symptoms returned but far more severe. We took her back, they did the same thing, but upped the dose on the stool softener.

This summer we took her back in for the same symptoms. They recommended deopstipation as needed--a $600 procedure. I said I can't afford to have her deopstipated every month. They said, well then we have to talk about

The absolute hands down best vet I've ever been to, correctly diagnosed within minutes something 2 other vets and the ER misdiagnosed, and also did the procedure for 1/3 the price they wanted. The only problem is that there's never any appointments available for days and days and usually when I'm having an issue I can't wait a week+ for an appt. not saying I should be able to walk in anytime but if my pet is sick and needs attention I shouldn't have to go to the animal hospital and pay for an ER visit to get him taken care of, particularly because I usually end up coming

The technicians are unprofessional and don't wear gloves. The office staff is rude. After 11 days, no test results. I called to talk to them and they told me about how busy they are, and then hung up on me.

This is an extremely unprofessional organization. DO NOT bring your pet here.

We had an excellent experience here. They fit our cat in for an emergency visit despite being fully booked and saw us much more quickly than anticipated. Dr Tsung and the rest of the staff were terrific and compassionate. No pressure or upselling. Thank you Inwood Animal Clinic. We'll be back.

Not only dr Schemil disrespectful, throws his weight around and is intimidating but I went there for a simple complain "my dog is shaking his head and I'm wondering if possibly he has an ear infection/bug inside". You'd think a good doctor/vet office would check and give you the diagnosis. Instead, they charged for an office visit, and ear cleaning "with exam" (whatever that means), sold a tick collar for $76, and fish oil for $53. Grand total $300! A terrible experience. They're money makers and always want to add things to bill you. Over examine, over recommend

Went in today and was very disappointed with the receptionist in the front. Her name is Jen. She had a very bad attitude and did not make me feel welcome. Made me not want to spent my money at Inwood. Everyone else was very nice. Front desk is the face of a business. I would not recommend having an employee like that at any business.

I moved to the far north Bronx two years ago, and I invest in Pet Cab to bring them back. Dr. Shimel saved Fish from a life-threatening urinary blockage, and Jordan and Maggie's GI issues are under control with diet (and medication for Maggie). I have always gotten full information and costs so I can make an informed decision.

I definitely had high hopes for Inwood Animal Clinic and hoped they would have provided amazing care. However, after two months I am now filing a complaint with NYSED.

This clinic is more concerned with billing then they are with care. In one visit with Dr. Tsung she waltzed into the visit immediately walked to the computer station instead of my pet who was on the exam table with the vet tech. Another visit to this clinic 3 distinct medications I paid for I did not receive. The reception staff are so inept at times it felt like I was unknowing participant in some SNL skit-many times making

Inwood Animal Clinic is a fantastic place; they care for their customers, they are easy to get in touch with and they have helped so much with the basic wellbeing and taking care of our pets. I truly could not recommend them enough. All of their vets are great and they have looked out for us and our pets since we started going there.

This vet practice is amazing and all of the staff are friendly and awesome! This practice is out of the way for me, I have two closer vet clinics by my house, but I will pay extra for a Lyft to bring my cats here knowing they will receive great care. My cats have seen Dr. Shimel, Dr. Ahn, and Dr. Tsung and they are all caring with amazing bedside manner. They took the time to answer my questions and concerns. They knew I was anxious about my pets and gave me assurance, provided flexibility and patience. From the front desk admins to vet techs, everyone has made us feel welcomed. This practice is

I cannot recommend a better vet. I took Morrie, our 16-week old Elf kitten, for his first checkup here and was greeted by an incredible staff. They were all so clearly there for their love of animals and to help the lil guys. Check in was a breeze and we were seen within 15 minutes of our appointment time. Dr. Shimel saw us and was so knowledgeable and had incredible bedside manor. He was patient when answering my laundry list of questions. I know Morrie is in great hands at Inwood animal Clinic and am confident that this is hands down the best clinic for us in NYC.

This place is awful. They always overbook appointments so the wait is brutal. Keeping a cat in a carrier for over an hour in a crowded waiting area is just cruel. Never again.

Started going to the New York cat hospital on the UWS. They're fantastic and worth the extra expense and uber to get there.

This place is convenient to get to if you live in the area. Save convenient for a laundromat, not yours pets' health.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. These people just want money and they will not give you a straight answer as to what is wrong with your pet. They will tell you that the visit will only be $75 but really it's more than that because they will run a whole bunch of test without telling you and then show you the bill later. I took my 9 year old cat here because he was rapidly losing weight and was vomiting. Shimel was the one who saw him and told me he had a heart murmur...that still didn't explain the weight loss and vomiting. I left paying a $600 bill of just exams and x rays and no answer

1. Visited 09/20- my baby had malodorous urine and hematuria (blood in urine). I paid for a urine culture, urinalysis and antibiotics. Sent home to await urine culture results. ($400)
2. Called 2 days later by Dr. Tsuing requested me to come in because she'd like to increase the dosage of antibiotics (I informed her that symptoms were improving, but she insisted that I return..I complied) (more $)
3. Hematuria returned 11/20, called Inwood to get culture results (because I was never notified, and I figured no news is good news) and was informed by Dr. Tsuing that the lab erroneously cancelled

I don't know how this business has 3, 4, 5 stars reviews.

On Wednesday, my dog was attended by a rude veterinarian called Kevin Shimel.
I booked a vaccine only at 3 pm. My dog was attended at 4 pm. What is the point of making an appointment?

I was charged for an office examination, ear cleaning, canine distemper vaccine, and medicines. I took all my dog's documents. If you take your dog to an office examination, it means that the doctor MUST guarantee his work. I just booked a vaccine. They force you to pay for an office examination. My dog was in perfect health conditions! I took him
