Urban Animal Veterinary Hospital
At Urban Animal we know that every companion animal has his or her own unique characteristics that define who they are. We celebrate these qualities, and that's why our approach is specific to a pet's individual needs. Urban Animal takes into consideration things like personality, sex, lifestyle, breed and life stage.

Our state-of the-art facility enables us to work with animals that have a range of needs, from a pet that's healthy to one that's sick or in need of emergency care to becoming a senior or experiencing something else. Your pet isn't just a pet; he or she is your urban companion. We wouldn't have it any other way.
Services
Cardiac disease occurs in cats and dogs similar to people. Disease can be present at birth (congenital) or be acquired along the way. The most important thing with heart disease is to diagnose it correctly, monitor its progression, and step in when treatment is indicated. It's also important that you, the owner, know that disease is there and know what to expect.
Your animal's teeth require regular care just the way people's do. This includes regular brushing to maintain good oral health. And just like us, they also need routine dental evaluations with x-rays, scaling, probing, polishing and cleaning. At Urban Animal, we don't just guess at what's going on under the gum line.
While we all know that beauty goes deeper than the skin, when it comes to pet dermatology, we'd like to stay a little shallow. Your pet's coat is a reflection of his or her overall health; it's also a reflection of how pets respond to their environment, their immune system or even how their breed specific make up.
Urban Animal offers ultrasound and digital x-ray to better visualize structures that aren't always apparent. Our state-of-the-art equipment enables us to quickly obtain images of the chest, abdomen and the organs inside them. It also helps us examine whether bony abnormalities are present. Our radiographs (x-rays) are sent to boarded radiologists just the way they are when we get imaged ourselves.
Whether elective surgery, biopsy, mass removal or unexpected, our veterinary surgeon helps you keep your cat or dog healthy. Our surgery suite has a heated surgery table to keep your pet warm during a procedure. We have electrocautery instruments, if needed, to make procedures go faster and minimize blood loss.

Dr. Granson and her amazing team were there for us when our precious Jack became very ill on a Sunday. When no one would see him in our area the staff worked us in to be seen. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Dr. Granson provided loving, compassionate, and thorough care to our Jack. Almost every day she would call to check on him or give us updates on his lab work. Unfortunately our sweet dog passed but we will never forget the care he received from such a loving vet office. The staff even sent us a sympathy card. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Granson and the amazing staff. ❤️

All staff members were so so nice and informative and genuinely happy to treat/give a checkup to our kitten Miso! It was her first vet appointment and they made the experience great for both Miso and us and we will definitely be sticking to this vet from now on!

I read a few negative reviews of UAVH and I'm truly shocked and wonder about the people's level of grace and compassion that wrote them. My goal is not to upset those reviewers but to express my love of UAVH.
I have had six animals in my lifetime and UAVH are by far the most caring Vet hospital I've encountered. This care for the patients and their owners stems from Dr. Granson. She goes above and beyond to speak to you in detail about your pet's health, and I mean detail. It might not always be right away because this is a HOSPITAL where care of one animal might run into your appointment time

I appreciated that they could schedule my new puppy within the breeder's contract window and even moved the appointment up when the puppy had diarrhea the night before. While they knew my name & my puppy's name, no one (vet tech nor doctor) introduced themselves or wore name tags. I didn't know who I was talking to.
They treated the diarrhea, did a fecal test (at my insistence) and started a 3 day de-wormer. Without any explanation they wanted to administer more vaccinations even though that was ahead of schedule. They did call the next day to report Giardia in the fecal test and recommend extending

You cannot enter the facility if you are not vaccinated even with a mask. But once inside there is no 6ft distancing which seems counter intuitive. Fully respect business rights but also a customers choice of where to spend their money. Staff has many different personalities and not always polite. Everything is very slow. They wrote my dogs weight in kg instead of lbs on her profile which could have led to improper medication requests.

Dr. Granson and her team are amazing. I started bringing my pit with skin issues a few months back and each time we come, the appt is thorough and never rushed. Dr. Granson is knowledgeable and tries to give you different options that cater to what you can afford. I know my dog is in great hands when we come here.

My little fur baby hates going to the vet as I'm sure most dogs do, but they calmed her down and were able to get us in and out pretty quickly. Dr Granson always does a good job, so you should definitely bring your dog here if you live in Houston!

Dr. G is amazing, patient, and caring The most important, for, me is that Dr. G is diligent, gives explicit details about care as well as options, is direct, plane and simple and always tries to give you a range of costs for the care proposed. Staff are friendly and really do their best to know your pets. Ty is professional with a great sense of humor. The entire staff is diligent in making sure all patients are safe. When they put my dog to sleep, they literally sat on the floor with me and waited until I was ready to let her go. No pressure! Another plus, flexible hours, I never have a problem

My dog injured his leg over the weekend, and making an appointment was easy and quick. They were able to give a quick diagnosis and provide answers to all of my questions and concerns. Great to have some relief and not have to wait for an appointment during the work week. This was our first appointment at Urban Animal, and we will absolutely be back.
