This is a client-driven behavior change process that leads to long-term changes in food and nutrition habits. It can also be medical nutrition therapy for learning how to manage disease. The first in-person session lasts 1.5-2 hours and includes an initial plan of action. 95% of clients are seen in the office at 1907 N Lamar Blvd Ste 352, Austin, TX 78705.
Presentations can be from 30 min to 3 hrs and on topics such as general healthy eating, analysis of popular nutrition trends, the science of weight loss, sports nutrition, vegetarian meal planning, how to go about becoming more physically active, the physiology of how good nutrition and exercise prevents chronic disease, exercise demonstrations, or any topic your group wishes to have a professional discuss.
An exercise consultation is a discussion and analysis of what you do for exercise and how it compares to your fitness goals or what you need to do to benefit a medical condition. As always, consult with a physician before beginning an exercise program. Often times a person will have a specific goal for their workouts, but they are not training the right way for it.
Personal training is the art and science of leading someone through a workout in person. Trainers are certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and carry liability insurance. We specialize in strength training, flexibility, stability and balance, muscle gain, and fat loss.

I needed help customizing the final stages of my DASH diet and my transition to a maintenance program. Joey answered my questions, made helpful suggestions as to actions I could take and was tactful enough to let my more stupid ideas slide right past him. I would highly recommend him and will happily return if I need a follow up visit.

Joey did a great job of explaining the science behind nutrition. His added advice about my workout routine really complemented the nutrition advice well. I would have liked more details about specific foods to meet my goals.

Excellent first session! Joey was very thorough in reviewing my entire health history with me and understanding my goals and needs. He provided a lot of good feedback and some actionable recommendations allowing me to immediately start working towards my goals.
I highly recommend doing the RMR test to know exactly what your body's daily caloric burn is. One of my biggest problems has been understanding what my baseline caloric needs are to know how to adjust my eating.
I chose to work with Joey to help me attack pain issues from a nutritional angle and to help me get back into athletic shape

Joey was awesome to work with! He was clearly expert in this field and was kind and funny, in addition to making me feel comfortable airing some 'dirty laundry' in terms of eating habits, etc. It was my first time speaking with a nutritionist and I certainly learned a lot and am excited to implement these changes and see what happens. What I appreciate most about Joey's approach is his encouragement and intention with his recommendations to 'make it easy' on myself. If I'm trying too hard, it's not sustainable. After yoyo'ing over the past few years - this is some of the bst advice I've been given

I met Joey through RecSports at UT through the personal training program. He is a young, friendly individual who will allow you to set your own pace along with encouraging you to push and soar through your limits. He is knowledgeable about exercise in general and is very aware of the nutrition a person requires. He doesn't look down at you for being incapable of being weak and ignorant about physical activity. I highly recommend Joey for your exercise and nutrition needs.

My boyfriend and I found Joey through RecSports at the University of Texas and started training with him there. Not only is he a fantastic trainer, he also gave us amazing nutrition advice. I had never really worked out properly before and wanted to get a good basic routine down, and Joey was perfect for that. He is extremely knowledgeable about every workout he had us do, and always had an answer to our questions, whether it was about working out or diet/nutrition (and I had a lot of questions). On top of all this, he is also very friendly and just a great person to talk to in general. All in
