Services
I became a therapist because I love working with people and helping them to accomplish their goals. I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from San Diego State University in 1995. I then went back to SDSU in to complete a master's degree in counseling, with a specialization in marriage, family, and child counseling in 1999.
Often referred to as the "talking cure, " psychotherapy is a treatment modality for psychological or relationship difficulties whereby a therapist and client meet regularly to explore the nature of the client's troubles in an effort to relieve psychological symptoms (depression, anxiety, etc.) and to improve life satisfaction.
The first 2-3 sessions are assessment sessions. I usually take notes as I ask you to tell me about what has prompted you to seek therapy. I want to find out more about who you are as a person in general, and I want to find out what solutions you have attempted in order to resolve your difficulites.
Please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail if I can answer any questions for you or if you are interested in setting an appointment for counseling. I know that calling a therapist for that first meeting can be difficult. Please be open about any concerns you have about therapy, and I will do my best to address them.
