Here is a little bit about my background. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Tulane University in 1988. Prior to that, I received my Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Pepperdine University in 1986. Before opening my counseling practice, I spent over a decade providing counseling services and groups to adults, teens and children in various social service agencies.

After 24 years of living with an emotionally abusive, controlling, and unfaithful spouse, I suffered from depression, had very little self-esteem, and had lost all sense of who I was.
This book helps women recognize abusive patterns, includes good case examples from the writer's work with clients, and offers exercises to rebuild self-esteem. This is a helpful book for parents whose children have been sexually abused. It includes basic information about sexual abuse, reporting abuse, normal sexual development, steps to healing, how to deal with family members, working with a therapist and dealing with the court system.
Believing you are enough means remembering that nothing in you needs to change to be loved. Self-care means honoring and respecting the miraculous being that you are. Self-care means learning to listen with the ear of a dedicated mother to your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and then taking full responsibility for getting them met.
