Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital
Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital (ASAH) was founded in 1984 by Dr. Richard Routhe and is recognized as one of the best animal hospitals in the Twin Cities area. ASAH is a fully equipped animal hospital dedicated to delivering quality medical care to our animal patients, as well as quality service to our clients.

Our motto, "The Best Animal Care by People Who Care" is the foundation on which this hospital was built. It has been the philosophy underlying our success in becoming one of the most highly respected, trusted, and recommended animal hospitals in the area. We know that choosing a veterinary hospital for your pet is one of the most important decisions that you make as a pet owner, so we have tried to design our website to help you do that.
Services
Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital veterinarians and technicians are committed to excellence. Our world-class staff combines cutting-edge veterinary technology with decades of experience to provide the highest level of care for your pet. We understand that a pet is part of the family. Our goal is to provide each one with a long, healthy and happy life.
The mission of Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital is to continue to be recognized as one of the best animal hospitals providing consistent, high-quality animal care. Our motto is "The Best Animal Care by People Who Care." Delivering our professional services and products in an ethical, quality, and caring manner.
Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital believes that prevention is the key to your pet's long happy and healthy life. It has been shown to be the most effective and least expensive pet care. That's why our doctors recommend a pet wellness examination of your pet every six to twelve months depending on his or her age.
We are proud to offer an in-house pharmacy where we keep a wide variety of medications on-hand. This allows us to start treatment for your pet sooner. We can thoroughly discuss and demonstrate how to administer their medication during your appointment. We have the ability to run a number of diagnostic tests in-house.
Your pet's health is always our number one priority, which is why for most pets we recommend annual wellness exams to ensure that your animal companion remains in good health. If your pet is a senior-over seven for dogs, over nine for cats-we strongly suggest twice-yearly exams and blood screenings.

I needed to get my puppy in for a eye infection, called several places nobody could see us soon. I called when they opened and was able to get him in the same day. He's very, very rambunctious to say the least! They had me come in to show how to give the eye drops. I'll be back if needed. Thanks for the prompt care!

Since Covid there’s now a big gap in communication regarding the care for my pet. Cannot go into the facility with my pet and talk directly to the vet about his health. Only curbside drop off and then phone calls. Still waiting for a reply from the vet about some ear drops that seem to be doing more harm than good for my cat. It’s been 4 days…

The service was okay. What bothers me about this place is the unsolicited advice. I feel like I was lectured and talked down to. I'm an experienced pet owner, so please don't tell me how to train my puppy.

An emergency visit brought us to your clinic and I’m very grateful that schedules were accommodated to see my puppy. Our experience was extremely positive beginning with my call to your receptionist, being triaged by your vet techs and finally interacting with Dr. Westgard and Dr. Mayaka. Dr. Westgard saw my puppy and was very kind, patient, informative, and took her time to walk through medical options. Finally, I was not only shocked but delighted to receive a follow-up call from Dr. Mayaka. Working in healthcare, this is incredible service and the vets and staff at Arden Shoreview Hospital

Finding great cat vets can be hard. I moved from Seattle and it was stressful on my girls. One of them needed an inhaler renewed and this place checked all the boxes. They were fast, efficient and kept it as stress free as they could. Communication was clear and on point. Dr. Mayaka was the best and the staff (from the appropriate social distance đź‘Ś) was what has helped me decide this is where we will come back to.

I got a puppy over the weekend that was not feeling well. Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital calmed my anxiety and treated my pup with care and kindness. The nurses and dr were thorough and took as much time as needed to make sure I wan informed and comfortable. They did blood work and found what was causing my pup to be ill. They started us on a round of treatment right away. They gave me several samples of food and medication and packets of info on everything from housebreaking to vaccinations and everything in between. 5 stars! If you are looking for a veterinarian in the twin cities area, I would

This vet clinic is amazing. Thorough, kind, responsive, and passionate about animals. My cats see Dr. Mickelson and she is incredible. She was able to suggest some changes in my pets care where other vets would simply say “it’s fine as is” in the past (for example, my cat is very overweight but vets always say the food I’m feeding is ok. Dr M took the time to look at the specific food in detail and caloric intake, and now we have a new weight management food plan that is proving to be so much better for my cat). I felt very heard as a pet owner and I felt that she truly cared about the

They provide very individualized care for my dog. He doesn't always see the same vet every visit but they take great notes so working with both of them whenever my schedule allows is very easy. All the staff are fun and friendly and have a passion for what they do!

All around excellent care and compassion for my senior dog! Plan for treatment, including financial estimates, were clearly articulated and consultative to determine the best and most reasonable approach for arthritis and dental issues. Prices seemed very reasonable. Quick turn arounds for lab results and easy to schedule appointments. Thank you for taking care of Colten!

I hope clients or perspective customers read this. 2....count them...2 cats have died at the hands of this vet clinic! Abby, my 17 year old tortie was the first one. All they did was feel her abdomen and tell me she's got a mass...she needs to be euthanized. No blood work...no xrays...nothing! Just feeling her stomach! Well, what am I going to say?… They're supposed to know what they're doing! Oh, and by the way, Abby was only being taken in for a senior check up!
A few months later, my 11 year old Maine Coon, Cammi is dead. I took her in because she lost a significant amount of weight,

Worst place ever. I had a cat who had a severe bladder problem and they told me they could get him better. They did all this stuff for 700$ and told me what to do and that he should be better the next day. Days went by and he was still lathargic, not eating, barely drinking, and he was peeing on himself even though I did everything they told me to… do. We tried to call them back to ask questions about his behavior and the lady offered to do blood work for 200$. We went to a different vet that day and the vet told us that if he didn't come here, he would have been dead the next day. There
