Took my car here for an oil change. Super easy to make an appointment and check my car in. Car was ready quickly. My mistake was that he does not accept credit cards. The owner was gracious enough for me to take the car home and return later with a check. Will be back!

If I could give them 0 stars that would equate to the service I received. I was headed back home and noted a nail in my tire that needed to be removed and tire plugged. I went into the shop ( about 30 minutes after they opened) to ask if he could help me. The immediate answer was No. While I typically don't use racism as an excuse for poor customer service, I am certain that this was the case here

Robert is professional and charges fair labor rates. I stopped by his shop on a Tuesday morning with a leaking radiator. He told me that he couldn’t fit me in until Thursday morning. I was able to get by adding coolant to my vehicle until he made the repair. I dropped the vehicle off on Thursday morning and picked it up later that afternoon complete with a new radiator. We make a yearly trip to HHI and I am thankful that I now know a mechanic on the island that I can trust.

After a long drive to HHI I noticed a grinding noise from my brakes. I found Island Auto from a search. I called and he said he was booked but to bring the car by and he would see if it was something simple. I did and he called me a half hour later (3:30pm) and said I needed rear brake pads and rotors and he could do it by 5pm. The price was a reasonable price for the service. He had the car ready by a few minutes after 5:00 and I saw him road test my car before he finished. He did a great job in a short time on short notice at a fair price.

Robert is completely honest and honorable. Reasonably priced, more likely to set a low expectation for you and exceed it than the other way around.
While visiting us our son had a catastrophic failure in his cooling system. Robert diagnosed it, fixed it and returned it to us better than promised.
He doesn't take credit cards but will take a check. Can't recommend him highly enough.

While vacationing at HHI, I noticed a nail in a tire on our van. I was nervous I'd pay a premium once any mechanic saw I had out of state license plates. After calling several places, I was able to get my tire repaired that afternoon at Island Motors. I was greeted by Robert and he was able to fix the tire quickly. I feel like I paid a very reasonable price for the quick repair. If you're from out of state, don't look any further and take your vehicle here.

I’m from out of town and got a nail in my tire. A couple other places couldn’t get to me. Robert told me to come on over. He got me in immediately, patched the tire and I was done in less than 20 minutes. He gave me a fair price and was great. I’m glad I found him.

On vacation and something wasn't right with my truck. After reading reviews, I pulled into Island Motors toward the end of the day. Robert had the issue diagnosed and part ordered in 10 mins and arranged to take me in first thing the next morning. Dropped off at 8am and by 10am got a call saying truck was ready. Robert showed me the broken part, price was exactly what he estimated the day before and I was good to go. As mentioned in other posts, I too had the fear of breaking down on 95 on the way home. Without knowing any local mechanics, I gave a local business a shot and very satisfied

No need to even think about going anywhere else. Friendly, reasonable, efficient and honest. Vacationing for a week, one of my worst fears is driving home on 95 and breaking down. Engine light came on, drove over, and it was fixed in under two hours. If I lived here, Robert and his staff would be my go to mechanics.

Highly recommend Island Motors for any auto service needs. We were in HHI from Ohio for a week on family vacation and brakes went out on 2009 Honda Pilot. Based on some earlier Yelp reviews and proximity to our rental I took car here and within 5 minutes my car was on the lift and being looked at to provide me with an estimate. In all, my car was done within 1 hour 15 minutes of arriving at the shop without an appointment. This was by far the best auto repair experience I ever had. They were very accommodating, very professional and did great work at what I felt was a very reasonable price for

We chose this shop based on the reviews. While in the area we needed a leak diagnosed and repaired on an older Jeep. The diagnosis was quick and the tech, Robert, was honest and explained the extent of the repair options. The work was done the same day and was ready when promised. The only caveat for some people is that they do not accept credit cards.

We were on Spring Break and discovered on the way down that our A/C wasn't working. I called and spoke to Robert and brought my car in first thing on a Wednesday morning. I explained if there was any way possibke to have a diagnosis by 10 am, we had a reservation to go kayaking. Not only did he diagnose the problem but had it repaired by 9:30 am. The price was more than fair and not the typical "tourist" price. Will definitely bring our vehicles here again if we e have car problems!

I have moved 5 or 6 times and every time I do, the finding of a good mechanic is one of my top concerns. Having moved here two years ago, I first tried the guy who was close. Then I tried the guy who was big. Then I found Island Motors on Hilton Head's south end. Island Motors came recommended to me by a friend who may not be the most mechanically inclined. But he hit the nail on the head. Robert is an unusually trustworthy person. You just know it when you see it. Not that I hope to be seeing him often, but all my automotive mechanical troubles will be his to handle.

I can not say enough good things about this place. My bother and I were recently in HHI vacationing when the power steering belt came off of his BMW and took the other belts with it. These guys replaced the pulley and all the belts for $260 and got it done in a day. I was sure my brother was going to be killed because we were in a resort area and he definitely needed assistance but that was not the case. On top of that, they were very friendly and allowed us to look over some of the classic autos they had on site. The do not take credit cards so go armed with cash or you will be heading to
