San Carlos Animal Hospital is proud to serve San Diego, CA and surrounding areas. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service. We believe in treating every patient as if they were our own pet, and giving them the same loving attention and care.
To help you save time, we have provided the cost of some of our most commonly performed services. If you have questions, please feel free to give us a call at 619-460-3100. Most services are on a pet-to-pet basis and a physical exam may be required for accurate pricing. In an effort to strengthen our bond and gain/maintain your dog's trust, we have decided to discontinue canine nail trimming services.
I hail from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. As a child, much to my mom's surprise (and initial disapproval) I traded my drum set for an Orange Wing Amazon parrot (named Duque, who is still alive today) and it has been history ever since. Good thing I have a very supporting and understanding mom because I am pretty sure that I am a much better veterinarian than I would have been a rock star.
Here at San Carlos Animal Hospital we are always open to finding new team members to join our close knit group. Any applicant must be hard working, team oriented, and have a positive attitude. We have very high expectations for our employees and the veterinary field is a very demanding career choice.
We're offering curbside check-ins from your car for your appointments. Call 619-460-3100 when you arrive for your appointment, we will put you in touch with one of our technicians who will touch base with you regarding your online intake form and reason for your visit. The technician will then come and escort your pet to our treatment area for the veterinarian to perform a thorough examination.

Dr.Sawyer has taken care of my 2 Yorkies (1 Now 17 the other 14). My 17 yr old woke up on wed and couldn't walk. I was NEW to San Carlos...Upon hearing of "TINKER'S" ISSUE they got her in within 2 Hours on what was a Solidly Booked Day !! Tech's in office were Awesome !! If I could give 100 Stars I would !! San Carlos will be my Veterinary Hospital as long as Dr. Sawyer and the Awesome Staff are there !!

Dr. Acosta is wonderful! He shows genuine care for your pets! He is very patient explaining Your pets condition and answering any questions that you might have. He also will give you options depending on your needs financially and what is the reasonable treatment at the time. I always feel confident with him caring for all my three dogs!

I love everyone at SCAH! Mac came out in the morning to get my dogs as Dr. Acosta was doing his best to squeeze them in, in between scheduled patients, and I went home to wait. Dr. Acosta when he called gave me all the time I needed, I never felt rushed, or that I was taking up too much time. Gretchen brought them back out to me when it was time for me to pick them up later in the day. All in all it was (and always is) a wonderful experience! The staff and doctors at San Carlos Animal Hospital, are the most amazing and compassionate professionals in the industry of pet care. I changed to San Carlos in Jan 2020, and have not regretted my decision by any degree of consideration. They are extremely responsive, and accommodating especially during theses most trying of times with social distancing. I have two Boxers, and they are my world as I am a happily divorced bachelor of 17 years, and they are my closest companions and family.

Phenomenal Vet! Dr. Acosta, Eduardo is so knowledgeable, helpful, thorough, and patient. He takes his time to answer all questions and gives you very informative answers. We have never felt rushed in any visit and you can tell he absolutely has a passion for helping animals. We have five pets and we are so happy to have found such a genuine and caring veterinarian that we can trust!!!
