Monarch Massage Therapy
Monarch Massage Therapy was born from the idea that massage therapy, like the word monarch, is a balance of opposites. The word monarch brings to mind both the fluid and intuitive grace of a butterfly, and at the same time denotes power and leadership. In the same way the word "massage" evokes the feeling of gentle relaxation and "therapy" as diligent training, seemingly contraries.

Monarch Massage Therapy is a practice that strives to bring these contrasts together so that the client may reach their fullest potential; balance. Enjoy a prenatal, postnatal, deep tissue, or swedish massage in the comfort of your own home or office. Pregnancy massage is a gentle and nurturing massage that focuses on the needs of the mother.

Steve began working with the body as a yoga instructor. He had been teaching yoga classes and yoga teacher trainings in the DC area for over 12 years. As an inspiring leader in the wellness arts, Steve took his training to a new level and became a licensed massage therapist in 2015.

His background in anatomy, physiology, movement and energetics has given him the ability to assist and guide clients to heal from injury, promote relaxation, and begin valuable fitness/wellness management. After 6 years of seeing clients at his home studio in Washington DC, Steve moved to the Sabino Canyon area of Tucson where he looks forward to working with his new community.
Pregnancy, Labor and Postpartum are very powerful and transformative times in a woman's life and massage therapy is a wonderful way to help assimilate all the exciting changes. I have trained with and am certified by Claire Marie Miller, one of the nation's leaders in massage therapy and creator of Nurturing the Mother.
Deep tissue and therapeutic massage is a technique that relies on specific knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This type of massage doesn't always mean firmer pressure, rather it is meant to be focused work on a specific area or structure of the body to help relieve a particular dysfunction. The dysfunction can vary from client to client but some examples are pain, limited mobility, stiffness/tightness, or a number of other chronic issues.
I have been practice yoga since high school, when I was first introduced to the practice by my pole-vaulting coach. Over the course of my practice I have studied in India for extended periods of time and trained/studied with a number of wonderful teachers of both the classics and modern adaptations of the practice.
On occasion same day appointments are available. If you would like to book a same day appointment or you don't see the day/time you are looking for please contact me here. Due to certain medical contraindications to receiving a massage, such as fever, I reserve the right to cancel the appointment at anytime.
