Some of my fondest memories of visiting Grandfather Mountain were of course the bridge and the views, but most importantly - the bears. I remember being young and seeing the black bears in their natural habitat, roaming around the mountain, and us, as children, being mesmerized by this (somewhat) terrifying creature that was also absolutely.
Good news, North Carolina: After years of winter weather predictions that called for harsh, frigid conditions in the Tar Heel State, the Old Farmer's Almanac's prediction for the upcoming 2020-2021 winter is quite the opposite. It fact, at times it may be downright gorgeous. Standing at 600-foot tall, the granite dome is the central attraction and eye candy at Stone Mountain State Park.
