I've been been taking my pets to Carlson Animal Hospital for over 30 years. Dr. Carlson was a dream veterinarian. He loved your animals as much as you do. Since then Dr. Carlson has retired and has left his office and reputation in the hands on vets that are very similar demeanors. Loving, caring, and very capable.
A good wellness and preventive care approach is the cornerstone of keeping your pet healthy. At Carlsen Animal Hospital, our team is dedicated to providing the best preventive care for your pet. The focus of wellness care is regular physical examinations, which establishes a baseline of normal for your pet.
Immunizations (vaccinations) are an important part of protecting your pet from disease. Prior to development of vaccines against viruses such as Rabies, morbidity and mortality rates from infectious diseases were substantially higher amongst companion animals and humans.
The persistence of several highly infectious, and potentially dangerous diseases in the United States is largely due to pet overpopulation and irresponsible pet ownership, leading to reservoirs of disease in groups of unvaccinated animals. Some of these infectious diseases also have wild animal reservoirs, meaning that they can survive in certain species of wild animals.

Where do I start? After having two dogs go to Carlsen Animal Hospital for the past 25 years I received the most callous and non-responsive treatment from Carlsen Animal Hospital imaginable! My dog woke up very lethargic and refused to move from the front door. I called Carlsen and asked if I could bring in my dog because I had never seen her behave this way. They told me they were booked up and 'it didn't sound too serious, and I can bring her in the next day." When I persisted she told me to take her to the emergency room if I was concerned and then rudely said, "hold on please" and disconnected

Never enter or return, in recommendation. This place has absolutely solidified its view regarding complete disregard for long-standing customers and care of those pets deemed "family".

I had been coming here for the past 3 years and my elderly dog has been seeing Dr. Kim Bhuta, who was amazing but no longer working there. Since she's left, the place has completely gone downhill.
This past weekend (October 22,23,24, 2021) I had an emergency with my 18yr.old dog as he was declining after a seizure. I tried to call them to talk to someone and the phone kept ringing with no answer! EVEN THE EMERGENCY LINE! I finally drove over there and saw that they were closed because of tenting for termites! They didn't even bother to answer the phones or have a voice mail explaining

We love Carlsen Animal Hospital. Always helpful and available! I think it’s also worth it to mention Dr. G would come out and talk to me during the pandemic every visit. From my experience other offices weren’t doing that.
I’m also always given a clear breakdown of my bill which I appreciate.
Very responsive to email.

Dr Kim Bhuta was the whole reason I have been going there for the past 10 years. The staff was awesome and friendly! Now, Dr Kim is no longer there and when you call, they place you on hold for 20-30 min plus. The staff is unprofessional and I will not be coming back. I will find where Dr Bhuta has gone to and I will go there! I have never seen a vet so caring and truly good at what she does! She was what kept this whole business together so hopefully now she is somewhere much better! She deserves greatness!

We and our dogs have been clients for years. When Dr. Carlsen sold his practice, a new team took over. While they seem to be competent, they are understaffed. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes just to get through. Recently, one of our dogs had a surgery. They forgot to give me post-op instructions and almost forgot her medicine. The price, compared to another vet we just switched to, was VERY high.

The vets and vet techs here are amazing but I’m sad to share that every time we’ve been here there have been really bad snags during their check in process.
Today we had a drop off scheduled for the morning and called the office line when we arrived but sat on hold for 15 minutes before we reached a live person. They took our information and said they’d be right out. After an hour waiting after this I called again to follow up and was bumped to hold again for 10 minutes. They apologized and said someone would be right out.
15 minutes after speaking to the desk someone did just come out

Dr. Bhuta cares deeply about animals and people. I wish I could find the words to express my appreciation for all she has done for us. When our dog had to be hospitalized, she called the vet hospital and advocated for him to get him the right treatment so he could be healthy and ready to be discharged as quickly as possible. She has worked with us on price when times were tough, without sacrificing care for our dog. My dog absolutely loves her and all the staff. I know our dog is in good hands and I also know Carlsen isn't milking us for revenue.

I have used this clinic for years while Dr. Carlsen was working. You usually put up with the mismanagement. Extemely long hold times. Now that Dr. Carlsen is retired, they are grossly overwhelmed and understaffed. Your hold times are ridiculous . It seems they are always putting out fires. They need increase help or less business. I am looking for a new vet now. It isn't worth high blood pressure with the treatment they give you.

I have the best regard for Carlsen Animal Hospital. I've been going there for more than 6 years. Dr Carlsen, who has since retired, and Kimberly Bhuta, who now runs the show, have helped me see Duncan through some challenging times, a compromised immune system, mostly allergy stuff. Both worked with me so he could eat what dogs eat, not just pulverized chicken feathers which which he wouldn't eat and didn't agree with him, or mask it with some toxic chemical.
Now when we go to visit Dr Bhuta, I watch as all the staff are diligently racing in and out of the building during Covid

My dog was coughing and sneezing like crazy, eyes and nose watering for about a week. His regular vet couldn't get us in, so I found Carlsen based on their really good reviews!
Their COVID protocols are great: you call when you arrive at the vet, they come and get your dog/pet wearing proper PPE, then you pick up your pet later in the day.
What I particularly loved about Carlsen were:
1) very friendly receptionists
2) the dr calls you when she is examining your pet to talk over the course of action recommended so that you can agree or disagree to treatment. for my situation she explained

This was the best experience I've ever hat at a vet. I found Carlsen Animal Hospital on Yelp and if you're looking to find a vet like I was, your search is done here! I just moved here from Florida and my Jake hasn't had the easiest transition. He had allergies flare up to the grass and had a huge hot spot on his neck he wouldn't stop itching! It began to look infected and I was worried because I didn't have a vet in LA yet. I called Carlsen Animal Hospital at 8AM and they told me to bring him in at 9:30 AM and he'd be taken care of. The vet called me later in the

Dr. Carlsen saved my cat's life many years ago when he was attacked by a dog. Other vet's didn't even notice that his jaw was broken, Dr. Carlsen is the best vet to make the proper diagnosis. When you have the proper diagnosis, you will know how to treat your pet the right way & that saves time, suffering & money. I am so grateful to Dr. Carlsen & his staff, I will always take my animals there.
