Dr. Durando has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Santa Clara University. He attended Georgetown University to earn a Degree in Dental Science(DDS). He returned to the beloved Northern California to practice dentistry. He is married with three Sons and two Grand Children. He is very devoted to the practice of dentistry.

A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff to preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures by preventing the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions. Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet.
Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of x-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged helping the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems easier.

I've been coming to Dr Durando for 11 years. On my first visit, he told me I had massive torii in the roof of my mouth. My previous dentist had never mentioned it, and so I'd ignored it for years. I had it removed by Kaiser, and am ever grateful to Dr Durando.
Unlike other dentists I've seen, Dr D cleans your teeth himself. He's friendly and gets a kick out of explaining teeth. I know so much more about keeping my teeth and gums healthy, and actually am kinda liking the info.
If you don't get the picture yet, I'll say he is thorough, knows and loves his profession

I've been a patient of Dr. Durando's for more than 20 years. So I've had a lot of dental work done in that time, and all of it has been done with careful education (telling me the alternatives, and what is good and not about each, including just waiting), care to be sure I experience no pain (pretty important!), after-action followup (to be sure the results are working well), and even help dealing with insurance and figuring out the right time to do work (insurance plan maximums). Dr. Durando is a perfectionist which is a great trait for a dentist. I first went to Dr. D back in the early 80's and he is, by far, the best dentist I seen. I've had everything from cleanings to root canal therapies, to my first implant, all have lasted much longer than any of the work other dentists before or since (In Hawaii in the early 2000's and later with a company sponsored plan) which is why I'm back.
Additionally, he utilizes a micro pump for the novicane which is much more comfortable and allows greater control.

Dr. Durando is definitely the most knowledgeable dentist I've ever seen. And on top of that he is extremely kind and patient. He handled my newborn screaming while he examined my teeth in good humor, and his sweet receptionist helped by holding my baby and entertaining her. He explained the condition of my teeth to me in detail, both the good and the bad without ever once coming across as scolding or demeaning; I learned so much about dentistry in my appointment! His educational tone is such that I felt more like a student in a dentistry class than a patient. He clearly cares about his work

Dr. Durando just solved a major problem for me with a bad molar. I am very interested in the biology and mechanics of what he's doing and he is very willing to explain the details to me. By doing this, it's clear to me that he is extremely competent technically and also an artist as I know it's not just all mechanical. He worked and worked on my tooth until he got it just right and I really trust his work.
Now I have a pain free molar with a beautiful crown!

Dr. Durando is a stand-up, quality, great dentist. My father has been going to him for over thirty years and I recently joined Dr. Durando's practice, having grown out of my old children's dentist. He does the cleanings himself and explains exactly what he is going to do and the reason why. Both him and Judy care about their patients immensely.
I have to agree with the other reviewers that he is definitely a tooth nerd-- he spent about 10 minutes at the end of the visit explaining exactly what gingivitis, fillings, and root canals look like complete with diagrams. Never has a doctor

Dr Durando is a tooth nerd. He's done all of my teeth, and my family's teeth for over 20 years. Always excellent results. He always has the latest gear and techniques. And he keeps you informed on what is happening in exquisite detail - getting your teeth done by him is like attending a med school lecture on dentistry.

I have been going to Dr. Durando for 12 years during which time he has performed cleaning, root canals, fillings, and crowns on my teeth.... Let's just say this was the British to American dental upgrade plan!!
He and his assistant, Judy, are very detail oriented and caring and he will always take the time to explain any procedure, your options and its pros and cons. He does beautiful work and takes great pride in delivering a quality result.
He always personally follows up with a phone call after any major procedure to make sure that you are OK. If only all doctors were that caring
