Brian S Sedgeley, PsyD
I am the founder and president of Bay Psychology Group, Inc. an insurance based, psychodynamic therapy group in Oakland, CA. I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology and I have extensive training and experience with both teens and adults. I have helped many people face issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, gender-dysphoria, sexual orientation issues, relationship problems, and work-place difficulties.

I bring cultural awareness to all of my work, being fortunate to have had considerable international experience. I am currently accepting new patients and take some types of SHIP, Anthem, and Medicare coverage. Please visit my fee and insurance page for more information. Anxious or depressed? Relationships not working?
Services
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience and education in adolescent development and mental health; the treatment of anxiety and depression, trauma, PTSD, abuse, bipolar disorder, and other mental illnesses; and culturally informed counseling and psychotherapy. I am also the founder and president of Bay Psychology Group, Inc. a counseling clinic in Rockridge.
In addition to working with people on a wide variety of concerns and goals, I have advanced training and specialize in working with international professionals and students, and adolescents. I use specialized approaches with each, informed by years of training. Do you have a teenage son or daughter who is withdrawn, struggling in school, or being reckless?
Out of control teens, school failure, family conflicts, drug abuse, violence, and suicide attempts can all be signs your son or daughter may need professional help. Like adults, adolescents can have mental health disorders that interfere with the way they feel, think, and act. When untreated, psychological problems can be very costly to families and communities.
Feeling unfulfilled by the work and relationships you are in? Keep getting in to bad relationships? Drinking or using drugs in a way that feels risky to you? Feeling guilty about your behavior? Unable to make or keep friends? If any of these sound like you, then therapy might be worth considering. You face unique challenges, that might bring both excitement and at times difficulties.
Immigrating to a new country can be exciting but at times also causes difficulties. Leaving everything behind that you know for the Bay Area may have been a dream-come-true initially, but is now causing you trouble. If this sounds like you, then psychotherapy may help. I have helped many immigrants over the years, including international students, professionals here on temporary work visas, and permanent residents.

I find Brian Sedgeley to be a highly talented psychotherapist.

Not only is he an empathetic professional with ample experience in his field, he also is a kind and considerate human being, which is an absolute must when helping people achieve and maintain emotional health.

I simply cannot say enough positive things about him.
