Rodrigo Padilla, came to the US in 1980 with a dream of opening an authentic Mexican restaurant. In 2001 he Launched Taqueria El Nacimiento naming ir after his beloved Mexican home town near Arandas, Jalisco. Years of dedication, vision & sacrifice have made El Nacimiento Restaurant a favorite multi-cultural destination for Metro Detroit & Canada.
True to his home town of El Nacimiento, the restaurant offers authentic Mexican food in a family friendly atmosphere. Did you know that El Nacimiento means the nativity? This is why we represent it in our logo. The restaurant is now managed by the next generation of Padillas: Alvaro, Joel, Daisy & Arely.

Since our favorite Mexican restaurant closed due to the pandemic, my husband and I have been searching for a local place with all of our traditional favorites. My husband read a glowing online review of this restaurant so we figured we would give it a try. What a hidden gem of an eatery. There is ample parking on the side of the building. We went on Tuesday, 1/25/22 at 5 PM, and were seated immediately because it's seat yourself. Our server, Juan, was at our table within a few minutes with menus, chips and salsa. There were very few chips in the basket, so we had to ask for more.

Love it 😍 All the food is fabulous.
The best taco’s (lomo & al pastor) I’ve had anywhere down here in a restaurant in SW. My wife and son say same for the chicken tacos. I’m talking so good you will rock back and forth in your seat. Didn’t find this place till about 3 years ago and come here about twice a month for dine in & carry out.
They always seem to be fully staffed. When I’ve been on Sunday nights they are busy, food still comes out fast.
This is my go to for 🇲🇽 over 30 minutes drive for me & passing many good restaurants and trucks along the way. 👍🏼

We stopped in, as lifelong natives to the area, after seeking a new restaurant because I get the impression that some of the long-time cooks at other well known restaurants are no longer with those establishments. Plus, the taste and service has seemed to decline.
We were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the menu and flavors at Nacimiento! Competitively priced. The tenderness and tastiness will bring us back.
Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon.

Taqueria El Nacimiento is by far my favorite restaurant in Southwest Detroit. I eat here almost every time that I am in Southwest and I have been here many times. I have brought family and friends here to eat as well and they all have loved it every time. I used to bring my kids here when they where young and we still lived in the area and it was there favorite restaurant in Southwest as well. I also turned my Pops on to it and he still eats here whenever he is in Detroit. I have had a number of the items on the menu and everything has always been good every time. On this particular day I had the

The food was top notch with big portions, and the drinks were to die for!The food was seasoned to perfection, service was attentive and not overbearing, and our table was clean. The drinks were some of the best I've had.
I would definitely reccomend coming here for a taste of authentic Mexican food! Everything was stellar, and I look forward to coming back soon!

I was recommended to this place by a friend. Let me tell you if you are in search of authentic birrias tacos dont come here. The waitress was rude, slow, acted like we were bothering her the whole time. Had to chase her down to get my order corrected. The other waitress brought my tacos with no sauce. Had a salad with no dressing. My burrito was terrible all rice and no sauce. Even asked my friend when was I gonna pay my bill after I left to the bathroom because the food gave me diarrhea immediately. Buyer beware!!!!
