I was always going to be an animal doctor. Since I could say the word "vet", my path was chosen. I started in the way most budding vets do, bringing home injured wildlife and strays and attempting to nurse them back to health. Both my successes and failures helped ignite a need for more education. My passions include positive reinforcement training and behavior shaping and helping fearful or aggressive pets learn to love life and vets!
Pediatrics, senior pet care, surgery, allergies, and standards of care in veterinary anesthesia and pain management are just a few of my interests. 26 years ago, I started working in dog boarding, breeding and training kennels, grooming salons and veterinary clinics. I use to absolutely love this place. However with new staffing i am highly disappointed. I have been waiting for over a week for a phone call back to get my kitten fixed and i ended up having to find some place else to get him fixed. I have also experienced alot of inconsistencies frok the office staff including rude behavior. However i will always be loyal to Dr Smith i still believe that she is the best Vet in the Grand Rapids area and will continue to deal with my frustrations with the office staff.

We have been with Dr. Smith from the start.She cared for our many cats and dogs over 25 some years. . I can't say enough good things about her and her staff. She was able to pull our two beloved dogs through a serious illness through her ICU. Now my children take all their fur babies there.

I contacted them when my dog Millie was sick and they got me in same day! My regular vet hadn’t returned my call in three days so this was a big improvement! Their fear-free training was impressive and they were amazing with my girl. She’s on her way to a full recovery! They are definitely my new primary vet and their service is unmatched in my experience.

The girls here are very professional and kind! I always get worried bringing my dog to the vet, especially now since most vets are curbside service, and they reassured me and made me feel like my pup was in good hands! They gave me more information about how to help my dogs leg pain in a day then my other vets did in a couple years. You can tell the girls love what they do here and want to help the best they can. Highly recommend.
