Second time visiting the Himalayan restaurant. First time we brought some Nepali students from St. Olaf. The food was excellent and the students ordered dishes that reminded them of home. Second visit we brought my wife's mother. She really enjoyed her chicken curry dish. As some people have pointed out, the service is slow.. Our only disappointment was the goat dish. While the flavor was excellent there were so many bone fragments it made it difficult, if not dangerous, to eat. Many pieces you couldn't see in the sauce. Very disappointed.

Took too long for the food to come to our table. Waited almost 50 mins. If you are hungry don't come here. You will be disappointed for a long wait. They were too busy on Sunday eve with takeout orders. It felt like we were not a priority. The take out orders seemed to be more important. We watched at least 12 take out orders go by. When the food eventually came, portions were small and taste was ok.

Great food at reasonable prices. A lot of choices, all of them well-prepared. Can get a little hectic during the dinner rush -- it IS popular-- but the servers do their best. I go there regularly and highly recommend it.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The owner and servers are extremely friendly and nice. Me and my boyfriend went there the other night. I accidentally ordered a different curry than what I had ordered the… time before and after asking about it and learning that I had ordered a different lamb curry, the owner replaced the curry with the one I had in mind. We will definitely be visiting here more often!

The chicken tikka masala was the best one I have ever eaten. The owner even gave us a little free food to sample which was so sweet!

Great place to have a flavourful meal. The restaurant has outside gazebo style seating arrangement as well as indoor seating arrangements. I'll definitely recommended outdoor seating for summers! The ambience is much vibrant for an outdoor dinner experience! The food offered is flavourful and has various spice level offerings based on your requirements. They so provide separate spice sauce if asked, that way you can order medium spicy if unsure and later spice your meal with side sauce. Momos are highlights for this place, being a Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian cusine based restaurants. The steamed

Sat outdoors in the nice outdoor seating. The garlic naan was by far the best thing - best garlic naan I've ever had. The samosas and momos were great appetizers. The daal soup was ok, I wouldn't get it again though. I got the chicken tikka masala which was rich and creamy with perfectly diced chicken. It was a delight dipping the garlic Naan into it. My friend had the goat curry with extra hot spice, he was a fan. Waiters were attentive and caring. Would be back in a heartbeat next time I'm in Minnesota!

This place is great. I highly recommend the appetizer sampler, very much enjoying their mo mo's and onion/jalapeño fritters. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of my entrée, I just know that it is mushroom based. The Himalayan flavor really comes through and they even have Himalayan coffee. This place is a local favorite as well, and I could easily try every item on the menu. Highly recommended!

The food NEVER disappoints. We had tika masala, lamb saag, portobello and potatoes, naan, chix tandoori.... Everything was amazing! Full of flavor and cooked to perfection when it comes to spice level and texture. It is unfortunate that the staff seem inexperienced, disorganized, and overwhelmed. They didn't appear short staff, plenty of waiters standing around, but no one seemed to know what their role was. We had 4 different people taking our order, dropping food/drinks, checking on our food. They forgot one dish, and we didn't get water until the end of our meal. I felt more

We ordered the non-veg combo which was enough for two people. It comes with two entrees, dal, dessert and a chutney/achar. We also ordered alu pakora as an appetizer. Everything was freshly made, served hot and tasted good. My only complaint would be the service. We had to wait long to order our food, and then even longer when we needed something. There were at least 4 servers, and only two tables of customers including us, both were a party of two. One of the server started vacuuming while we were eating our lunch, not a pleasant experience when dust is all around your food. But if you decide

Absolutely delectable!
I ordered takeout Himalayan Restaurant’s Ram Toria Aloo (Okra) [Extra Extra Hot] and it had a solid spiciness level to it. The okra, potatoes, and tomatoes were cooked wonderfully and the Nepalese spices brought everything together! The Half Momo (All Vegetarian) were delicious as well!
I hope to be ordering again soon!

Visiting the Twin Cities and this restaurant came highly recommended by a co-worker. Had to give it a shot, especially since it had authentic Nepali food, so we ordered these items to go:

Chicken Choyala: $14.95
Delicious! The Kathmandu herbs were absolutely spot on and made the entire kitchen smell delicious when I opened it.

Chicken Tikka Masala: $14.95
This is the only reason I took off 1 star. I consider myself a Chicken Tikka Masala connoisseur. Everywhere I travel, I try to find an authentic Indian/Nepalese restaurant & order this as my "go-to" dish (have tried at least 30

My friend visited me in Minneapolis and somehow has never tried Indian food! I had ordered here previously and LOVED their paneer. This time around we ordered the paneer, the lamb biriyani, and chicken tikka masala. All three were fantastic! The biriyani might be the best I've ever had! The rice was fragrant and had just the right amount of spices, the paneer was creamy and savory with a great texture. I ordered all three with medium spice levels and was thankful! It's not a heat spice, but extremely flavorful in a way that makes you sweat a little! I will absolutely be back!

Himalayan Restaurant has fantastic food and excellent service. Their staff is consistently going above and beyond, and their pace of service doesn’t change regardless of how busy they are. They also have an awesome takeout area that keeps food very hot for pickup. Highly recommend and a regular customer! Thanks for everything.

*Take-out experience during COVID-19 Review*

I have had Himalayan on my list especially to treat myself to my version of winter comfort food. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to experience their in person dining. However, I did take advantage of fulfilling my winter food craving for some wholesome flavorful Indian/Nepalese/Himalayan food.

I have to admit the food was pricey for the portions but I understand that the hospitality industry has been hit very hard during COVID-19, especially restaurants so I can empathize with them. Plus, the food was good and they were accommodating

The food and experience of eating at Himalayan is like nowhere else in the twin cities. Service is also very warm.

GOOD:
* Food quality
* Very granular spiciness options. I like the "mild medium" option.
* Warm service
* Excellent buffet (closed during COVID)
* Prompt and responsive takeout service

BAD: I really can't say anything bad about this place. Unfortunately like most restaurants that use the Clover system for payments, they do find a way to work in a surprise fee. In this case, it's an "online ordering" fee -- something I've never

I've ordered take out from here multiple times and it has not disappointed me. The only thing I can complain about is that sometimes you have to wait longer than the expected time for your food if you order during peak hours. But that's because it's a high demand restaurant and scaling up can be difficult when the demand gets unpredictably high.

Tikka masala, yum yum. Goat curry. Definitely worth the wait. This restaurant has been around for about a decade +. My friends and I used to hit up their Saturday buffet. Food was also fresh. I will most likely revisit this restaurant.

The Twin Cities is blessed with a large number of Nepalese, Tibetan and now also Bhutanese restaurants. Himalayan is a longtime staple and a solid spot for fresh and light food from this dynamic region of South Asia.

We started with the vegetable momo ($11) and loved them. They're simple and delicious and vegan by default.

The thukpa noodle soup ($11) was fine, but not great. Think of this dish as something akin to Vietnamese pho, but with different spices. Here the dish was hearty but the flavor profile fell flat (the best thukpa I've had was at the identically-named Himalayan Restaurant

We ordered delivery and everything was wonderful. The Himalayan platter had several appetizers which were all fresh and delicious. The green curry was flavorful with just the right level of spice. Our food was… ready very quickly and delivered even before the door dash estimate which is unheard of in my experience. Everything was still hot when it arrived. I look forward to going there in person after COVID ends but I’m sure we will order delivery again long before that. Looking forward to trying other menu items.

We happened to be in the neighborhood and saw the good reviews oh the Himalayan Restaurant and decided to check it out. They were right! We shared an order of chicken choyala and an order of garlic naan. Both were excellent. The choyala was just right - fresh and creative mix of seasonings without being overwhelming. Good amount of charcoal flavor on the chicken. And just the right amount of heat. Portions were plentiful. Service was fast friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Himalayan restaurant was truly a surprise,we live in St. Paul but we were running errands in Minneapolis and stumbled upon this place on our way home. We put in an order online which was very easy. The system gave us options for the spiciness of each dish. When we went to pick up the food the staff were very helpful and friendly. The person that… brought our food was so nice. We ordered take out as we aren’t ready to venture into the world of dining in during a pandemic. My partner went inside to pay and everyone was wearing masks and there was a bottle of hand sanitizer at the door

All forks aside this little gem has the best lamb choyala I've ever had. So tasty, spicy, and the herbs complete that plate! I want to go back and try the chicken.
Do your self a favor and get some choyala.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The food is delicious. We love to go for the buffet when we are free for a special lunch. The owner is so kind- he is always looking out for families. Several times, when our daughter has been upset, he has brought her some kind of little treat (cut fruit or a little lassi) to help her feel better. We love to support this restaurant.

My second time ordering under different circumstances and the food is still SOOO GOOD! You order online and submit your order once you get there park infront and walk in, pay, and get your order to go. The food is just insanely good! I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and wow doesn't dissapoint with it's flavors.I orderd mild because I am not crazy into spice. I totally recommend ordering take out and helping this business out because the flavors are so good! Don't forget to order some nan.

I went here with my yelp friends for book club. There were 10 of us and we had a great spot. The restaurant isn't too loud so we could actually hear exact other when each person was speaking.

I love this restaurant! The service was really good and the food was delicious. I love naan and I especially love garlic naan. I've never had a naan that had enough garlic and this one came very close. The more garlic the better! I was going to play broom ball after this event and so I got myCoconut chicken curry to go. I got a spice level of three. I will be getting a spice level of two the next
