The Mews Restaurant & Cafe
Born out of the Provincetown Mews Food and Wine Society, the Mews was started in 1964 with the goal of providing guests with a comfortable place to enjoy good food and drinks. Since 1983, the Mews has continued this tradition under the stewardship of owner, Ron Robin. We are currently operating under safety guidelines with widely spaced tables.

Our Fall hours are Thursday through Saturday from 5pm indoors only. The temporary outdoor beach-side deck is no longer being sat and will be removed in the following weeks. The Cafe or Upstairs Dining Room, is a lively room with a relaxed vibe that looks out on the beach with an amazing view of the bay.
Services
MEWS (myooz) - Primarily British for stables down a courtyard behind a castle or along a lane. That's where our original location was and how it got it's name back in 1964 when originators Nicky & Ray Wells started the restaurant. Ray was preparing the area for the business and found a bridle. After some research she discovered that the space was a stable where horses would cart oysters from the bay to Commercial Street.
Our Bistro, often called The Cafe or Upstairs Dining Room, is a lively room with a relaxed vibe. The antique mahogany wood panels behind our main bar were handcarved in 1892. Our vodka display cabinet features unique vodka bottles, some of which are now collectors' items. Seating includes high tops, regular tables and booths.
Yes, it really is on the same level as the beach. French doors and full-length windows allow you to look out over the bay to Long Point Light, one of Provincetown's three lighthouses. This dining room is quieter and (some say) more romantic! The talents of many local artists are showcased throughout the room, from the Mermaid and Merman glass panels, to the stained glass panels, custom designed tables and booths, paintings and photography.
We will try our best to accommodate requests, but we cannot guarantee specific tables. We open for dinner at 5pm, so early reservations have a better chance of snagging a window table! Our reservation system has been redesigned for fewer tables and also to limit the number of guests arriving at the same time.
Know someone with an event to celebrate, or someone special who simply deserves a treat for being who they are? A Mews gift card is the perfect choice. With our wide selection of creative cuisine and award winning wines, and a beautiful bar stocked with all the usual and not so usual liquors and cocktails, your guest will surely enjoy a memorable dining experience here.

We came here on our last night in Ptown. Fancy night out, decided to have dinner at the bar. *Tip - Make reservations - they book up FAST!*. The view was amazing - even from the bar. They are truly a "diamond in the rough" with a great wine selection, and even better bourbon selection. The staff was super friendly and very helpful with suggestions. We both had salads to start (Caesar for him, Mixed Greens for me) - both were impeccable. For Main Courses, I had the Yellowfin Tuna - it was so beautifully cooked and well seasoned. Hubby had the Shaking Beef - again, perfectly cooked and

We would definitely recommend The Mews as a nice, vibrant place for dinner. In our visit we really enjoyed the lobster dumplings as an appetizer. I continued my dinner by choosing the Shaking Beef. It was sweet and salty tender and very tasty. I would definitely choose this as my entree again. Mary chose an apple Pork Chop dish, she also enjoyed but found the chop to be slightly over cooked. The ambiance of the upstairs dining and bar area is where we would choose to sit again in a future visit.

This has got to be the best restaurant on the entire lower cape, particularly Provincetown. The menu is creative and the food is just fantastic.

Here's the thing - they have a new deck for outdoor dining that is just magnificent when the moon hangs over Cape Cod Bay. But, it may only be there for a while because of local laws, regulations & restrictions.

So, if you can (this is written in 2021), get a reservation and dine outdoors on a perfect summer/fall evening with someone you love....and fall in love again.

Had their veal it was moist and cooked to perfection. The cocktail was the bloody French martini and was delicious! Key lime pie was the right amount of sweetness, lime taste without being over powering and smooth. Sat out on the deck/beachside and the view is gorgeous.

So my expectations were too high due to online reviews re: food. In the end, loud bar (upstairs). Food so so. Excellent service--host and waitress top notch. Good tofu vindaloo and while good, huge overwhelming portion. Partner got excellent fish special in underwhelming sauce/preparation. Excluding key lime pie. Lemon poppyseed cheesecake interesting if not delish. Lotsa PDAs by nearby patrons making our meal a bit uncomfortable.

Per recommendations from PTown locals, our group on a friends weekend getaway secured (one of the last) reservations for a Saturday night. Upon entering the restaurant, it is clear that the locals love it here. People were greeted with hugs and humble welcoming.

We started with a martini (ok, I had two.) The Nantucket Express martini was nicely made without added Baileys. It contained Nantucket Triple Eight vodka and Tia Maria alongside expresso. My second was the Thai Martini martini. It was quite potent and definitely a sipper. The crater lake ginger vodka was very strong for my taste. I think

Although the most expensive, this meal was delicious. We got there early and had a drink at the bar, a Bloody French, it packs a wallop! After getting seated started with a shrimp cocktail, large shrimp in a different type of cocktail sauce but very tasty. Hubby got the chowder which he loved. For dinner had the Lobster with ramp mushroom risotto and almond crusted cod. These dishes were wonderful. I am still dreaming of that risotto. Then we had dessert! I got a strawberry rhubarb cheesecake and hubby got Key Lime Pie, got pics of those, again very delicious.

I have been to this establishment several times. Their food is fresh and flavorful. The meal portions are fair. Fine dinning usually is pricey and their prices are reasonable, too. The space is beautiful, but small. A date with your partner --- perfect! If you want to go as a family with little ones, I'd pick another location. We have a 2 year old and I wouldn't want her screaming in a place that is small; it would make for an uncomfortable meal experience.
Also, restaurant is only open for a few hours daily but definitely worth the experience if you love Provincetown. We'll definitely

Love this place. Came here several times with different sizes of groups. The staff is very friendly. Some must orders: bread with citrus butter, the burger (with the half cheddar/half blue cheese), the beef, and, although I didn't try it, the vindaloo is supposed to be great.

Eat! Here! Please! Got takeout to celebrate my engagement. Food was made quickly and packed well to preserve freshness and heat. Got soup and the lobster risotto. Absolutely amazing. Lobster was so fresh, risotto was buttery and salted well. Vegetables were both soft and had a slight crunch. American cuisine, basic, but extremely well prepared. Highly recommend.

I wish there was a 10 star rating for Mews!! I love this restaurant so much. It is one of my favorite places in the Cape to eat. The food is amazing and very different cuisine to choose from! I love sitting by the window over looking the harbor. The food is amazing, the desserts are delicious and the atmosphere is so nice and friendly. They have amazing cocktails. You feel welcome and right at home at Mews!! I can't wait to go back next summer to try more amazing food!

This is easily my favorite restaurant in Provincetown. Starting with the fact that we're in the midst of Covid 19 (seating limited) and I mistakenly showed up 30 minutes late to my reservation - the staff was able to slip us into a small table.

The appetizers (venison and shrimp) were both masterfully crafted.

The steak special (14oz ribeye) was incredibly cooked (rare) and melted in my mouth. The bolognese featured a lovely boar meat with very tasty spices.

Overall, every drink and meal was world class.

Special shout out to Neil, he was extremely helpful with choosing drinks and meals
