I would say 'okay'. I've heard good things but I wasn't impressed. It was fine, just not great. Their wasabi was gross. Both my husband and I felt sick the next day.

The rolls were all marked 50% off. We ordered 2 specialty rolls with around $8-9 and each came in 8 pieces. They were great especially the sumurai with the tempura shrimp made so crispy and the cream cheese was so rich.

Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, they haven't reopened the hibachi, but it is still a nice experience. My son & niece enjoyed their meals

I don't know how they do it, but the sushi always tastes the freshest and it is also the most reasonably priced. The spicy tuna and salmon rolls are great here. Most sushi restaurants drizzle the sauce all over the top, which I think ruins it. At Kumo I believe they mix it in, with crunchy panko inside as well. I will always choose Kumo in Hamden over every other sushi restaurant.

Don't listen to the negative people...

I was in New Haven for research on a book and out at Stop and Shop driving around to conjure memories. Pier One still standing but vacant. Sad!

With a few hours to kill before moving into the Taft AirBnB (Kasa), I decided to get some groceries and hit the Dollar Store by the old Bradlee's. There isn't as much sushi in New Haven as there used to be (Miya gone and Hatsune/Samurai vacant) so I Yelped "sushi near me" and realized this was just a block or two from Stop and Shop.

I was alone pretty much. Few were eating inside then

Don't let the cheap price of it steer you away. Cheap eats makes you have more for less of the price! Salmon sushi roll and fried rice is my go to.

I'm writing this review solely based on the customer service of the guy who answers the phone to take orders. I called and was giving my order and he kept saying are you done ? Then I added more and he'd ask again, are you done yet? At that third time, I said excuse me?? He said I have a lot of customer here waiting do you need to call back ? I was so ticked off, I said um no- cancel my order, I'll spend MY MONEY at sushi palace, GOODBYE. Never ever ever again ordering at a business that acts like that. I'll spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

I'm just confused. I got the hibachi chicken dinner. I will say the vegetables and soup were perfectly fine. BUT The dressing for my salad was mayonnaise. the chicken was so dry my roommate had to chug a bottle of Gatorade. A BOTTLE. To keep himself from choking. The rice was mediocre the noodles were weird. Idk I feel bad writing these kind of reviews but I just hope the chef sees this and tweaks his recipes a lil. I love hibachi so let's see this food taste better!! I'm giving this restaurant a month and I'll be back

Fresh, which is key. Eating in is met with slow service and not very appealing dining area. Not been in the hibachi room. I generally take out from here based on quality and price it served as my go to for TO.

The food is great and well priced but it's very sad the service is awful. My daughter and her friends go all the time and everytime they come back with a new story. The waiter stands over the table waiting for them to pay and not only that but this time she said to them you know you have to tip right which they do tip every time.

Food is 5 stars, service is 3 stars so i'm giving Kumo 4 stars.

The food is absolutely amazing, the rolls are all to die for and the hibachi dinners are amazing as well.
They also have really good noodles!

This is by far my favorite sushi spot. They have 50% off of all of their rolls. I always get the Philadelphia roll (my favvvvv) and the Moses roll . I've done dine-in here once but I normally do takeout (I'm single, judge ya mother!).

It normally takes about 15 minutes for your takeout order to be ready. Everyone who works here is SUPER friendly and the place is really clean.

Kumo is hands down the best Japanese restaurant around. The cuisine is beyond delicious, I've never had a single thing I didn't devour. This is my go-to spot for sushi rolls, the fish is always fresh & it's always 50% off. Kumo is also great for large groups, the hibachi is amazing & always a fun experience. Very attentive staff, great taste, great prices; you can't beat it. Only downfall is the bridge on skiff being worked on, the road closes right before. Unfortunately it's taking business away from this amazing restaurant. You could easily navigate around, or

I recently moved back to Hamden, and was so excited to be near Kumo again! It's tough to find a good sushi place around. Kumo has great food st the right price - 50% off all sushi and sashimi on Sunday! I recommend the Samurai roll: shrimp tempura, cream cheese, eek, and avocado. Yum!

Love, Love, Love this place ! Originally I was never a sushi fan until my sister took me to kumo.. I only eat sushi from here, the shrimp tempura is my fav.the drinks are nice, strong and inexpensive. The only downfall is the service. The waiters are not very friendly, the service always seems rushed, and it gets very busy but I feel by now the waiters should be used to it and approach the rush hours better. Other than that it would def be 5 stars .

Sushi and teriyaki meals are good!
Have had the best luck ordering for pick up, everything is prepared and ready in the time specified.

Biggest let down is eating in.. I'm not expecting a white glove service but I am expecting a smile. Any indication that you're not being held against your will being here.
On several occasions I have been reminded why I order out from here.
I've been seated, rushed through a drink menu, rushed through the sushi menu and felt like I am taking too long to enjoy myself during dinner.

If you're looking for a good place for sushi take out.

I was in the area with family and we stopped by this place for lunch. Great sushi options. Being vegetarian and gluten-free can be hard at times at Japanese restaurants.

I had the asparagus roll, vegetable roll, they ran out of sweet potatoes but I had a mushroom roll, and finally a cucumber and avocado roll. They even has gluten-free soy sauce (but you have to request it. It's not on the table).

My family got a variety of colorful sushi options and sashimi. They seemed to really enjoy it.
