Michele grew up in Petaluma, CA and graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College and San Jose State University, obtaining a degree in journalism. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1989, which was the same year she graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA.
