Karen was born and raised in Seattle and took the long way to Idaho via San Diego, where she worked as an administrator at UCSD Medical School setting up medical clinics, and as a liaison in 13 California school districts, answering directly to superintendents about the needs of special education children.

I used to wait on Karen Ellis when she came into my restaurant. For months I served her because nobody else would. Eventually, I got fed up with her too. She was rude, demanding, didn't tip very well, and she monopolized my time so my other customers suffered as a result.
Today, two years later, I was visiting my grandmother in the hospital and I ran into Karen on my way out. I confronted her about how rude she had been to me and she walked away, embarrassed, without apologizing.
