At Gentle Care Animal Hospital you will experience a friendly environment where you and your pet will always feel welcome! You will be treated with kindness and respect. Our goal is to become a part of your family, and for you and your pets to become a part of ours. Our kind and compassionate staff will work together with you to provide the very best care for your pets.
Saturday 8 am to noon (second and fourth Saturdays). Closed Thursday and Sunday. We are located on the SouthEast corner of Guadalupe Road and McClintock Drive in Tempe, Arizona. We are between Fry's and PetCo, under the sign that says 'VETERINARIAN.' From Route 60 (Superstition Freeway), exit at McClintock and go South, through the intersection at Guadalupe, then turn left into the Fry's/PetCo shopping Plaza.

My first appointment with them months ago for ear mites was fine. But this second appointment with them has been a nightmare.
I scheduled a very inconvenient, early appointment to examine -and likely remove- an unknown mass in my dog's mouth, since the receptionist advised me there could be surgery that same day. So I followed her advice and didn't feed him after 10 o'clock the night before.
Day of the appointment/surgery, I get there and find out one of their staff called out, and that's why a surgery couldn't happen for me. I would have appreciated a call letting me

Wow. I'm really shocked at the reviews that I just read despite taking my dogs to Dr. Capwell for the last 4 years, and other family members have for years as well.
The front office staff has always been helpful and courteous- even when I asked for so many different documents that my pet insurance required. In times of somewhat urgent need, they've always been able to squeeze me in between appts when necessary.
Dr. Capwell is very laid back and strikes me as someone who is calm, cool, and collected (which I would imagine are all excellent traits when dealing with sick or injured animals

Excellent all around! We have never had a bad experience ❤️ they got us in the other day for an emergency and had us in and out and did not overcharge!!! Prices are great, staff is great, and I highly recommend Gentle Care. We have also had to put some very loved dogs down with them which is NEVER easy and they were amazing they allowed us to stay in the room and take our time as needed.

After a month long battle with cancer we had to say our final goodbye to our beloved kitty. My review is in gratitude with Dr Capwell and the staff. We first explored solutions and unfortunately the cancer was too aggressive and invasive. She explained the process and at my toughest moment she went over how we did everything we could. Such a tough decision and she was so supportive. We got to take our time and spend some loving time with our cat. The next steps as painful as they were, Dr Capwell walked us through everything. I would really like to leave ZERO stars. Gentle Care is close to home and despite the other bad reviews, we chose to give them a chance and brought our dog to see Dr Capwell. We brought our dog in because she was having stomach problems. Dr Capwell has no common courtesy if she doesn't agree with how you care for you dog. When I first came across this Clinic. I read the reviews and the "About Us" part on the website. I was completely sold. I called and made my first appointment. They truly sounded like they cared about our pets including us, the owners.

Please consider any other office if you care about your pet. Each visit took longer than expected. Always many employees in the office and very few patients but things just move very slowly. Uncaring staff. Can't people they are in the area of healthcare. The dr was very uninterested in helping use navigate severe health issues for our dog - member of family. Thank goodness we found a Caring and knowledgeable vet to place this office.

I just left Gentle Care Animal Hospital and am extremely frustrated and disappointed at the level of "care" that was provided to me and my 16 year old cat. I chose this vet due to the seemingly heartfelt biography on her website, however it was completely misleading!
First, when I called to make the appointment, the front desk seemed bothered that I even called. I decided to continue with the appointment and assumed maybe the front desk had a bad day (regardless of the fact that a bad day should not be taken out on customers).

Worst vet I’ve ever been to. I went in today to take my 6 month puppy because he has red spots on belly and back looks irritated and the lady sent a worker to weigh him and check his temp rectal. Then the vet older lady comes in and never acknowledges me or the pup she just says ok whats wrong with him , I tell her and she states she will check him… for mites and that she will have to check under a microscope for mites and I said ok. I wait 10min in the exam room where I was and she comes in and bring me a list of charges and asks for me to sign I told the worker I’m not signing

We took our senior dog to her because she started coughing allot. She ran some labs and said she was healthy. A month later she is still coughing so we took her back, she did not seem to care, told my husband"she has a heart murmur", no solution just acted as if it was to be expected. So today we took her back to our old vet that was close to our old house. And she immediately saw the emergency. Did a chest x-ray, and diagnosed an enlarged heart. And got her started on water pills and some pressure pills. Will see how well she does from here. I feel we wasted time and money with Dr Capwell

We have been taking our miniature poodle here for the last six years. We have been extremely happy with the level of care and professionalism. Our poodle hurt his back about a year ago and we are really worried they were able to get us in right away and prescribed muscle relaxers that did the trick. Definitely I would recommend going here especially if you have a little dog

When doing an internet search this vet comes up as Burke Veterinary Hospital, which has one star reviews. Those reviews are dead on. This place not only doesn't seem to care about my animal, they seemed annoyed and inconvenienced that they actually have to do any work. Came here because my dog, who is very important to me, is injured and needed treatment. All this vet wanted to do was run the most expensive tests, that didn't seem to have anything to do with her injury. They wouldn't listen to me when I was explaining my dog's problem. First off I must disclose that the clinics system was down the day I brought in my dogs. I requested heartworm medication and an evaluation of my bulldog mix's ear. He had been shaking profusely and was scratching causing abrasions in his ear. The vet came in looked in his ear without any examining tool and stated "they look dirty." She wasn't going to prescribe us any antibiotic medication just cleaner, however I insisted she did. This took less then 5 minutes and she walked out. I took my dog to another clinic a month later and he had a severe yeast bacterial infection

HORRIBLE. The vets were so rude. My dogs ear was swollen shut and the vet gave me 3 options.. Leave it, give prescription which don't always work apparently or have surgery to pop it and seal it shut. I asked about surgery and if she could do it today because if the lump pops my dog could die and she said no because it is 4 in the afternoon and she is tired... What?!
To make it even better, she told me that my dog "needs a lot of work" and didn't really care to help her. After having my dog for 2 years and doing EVERYTHING and ANYTHING in my ability to make sure she is ok

With a new puppy comes a lot of responsibilities. There are exams, shots, pee puddles, chewed household items, and more to deal with. Though I can't help you with the house issues, I can recommend a nice vet that's located in Tempe - Gentle Care Animal Hospital.
So, as I'm a researcher by nature, I started reading online and calling up vet offices as soon as I got the pup. I was comparing details like price, schedule availability, things they recommended over the phone, and online reviews. Some other pet hospitals were almost twice the price

This is my pup's new vet for life! Dr. Capwell and her team are great and were very accommodating.
A few weeks ago my little pitbull puppy contracted parvo despite all of my most futile efforts against it through vaccination and quarantine. I took her here after her normal vet was booked and we're never going back! Dr. Capwell was very understanding of my budget as a 20 year old college student and carefully went over our options before performing any tests or procedures. Because of this we were able to detect the parvo and treat it quickly & effectively! I'm happy to say that
