Before Dr. Nelson Butay became a dentist, he received two art awards in sculpting and drawing. Shortly after, he stumbled onto a dental book located in the art section of the University of Hawaii library that united his creativity as an artist with his thirst for scientific knowledge. With a new direction set, he attended Northwestern University Dental School, founded by G.V. Black, the "Father of Modern Dentistry."
