Debbie McJimsey Counseling
If you are feeling overwhelmed or outmatched by your life, you could probably use some support. When we are facing relationship challenges, anxiety and stress, depression, or any number of other things, it can get very lonely trying to manage it all. It is a complicated and difficult balance, and it can become too much to bare.

The experience of counseling is about having me come along side you. You can have some help in the process. You don't have to sort it all out on your own. When feelings and challenging experiences are looming, it can be a deep relief to have your therapist map it out, understand why it is overwhelming to you, what is behind the behaviors, or the feelings, or the cycle that you are stuck in.
Services
Are you looking for a therapist that is a "good fit" for you? Searching for the right therapist is challenging, and I offer this information to give you a sense of what it would be like to work together. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions. I offer a free telephone consultation and offer excellent referrals if I am not the right fit for your particular circumstance.
I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other issue, I will help you recognize underlying problems, fully realize your strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way.
With my couples I provide support through life transitions or with re-connecting/rekindling loving feelings. With couples therapy, you'll learn how to communicate your feelings and needs, and get what you want out of your relationship. In my couple's therapy sessions, I help people develop the necessary skills needed to maintain sustaining love.
Adoption is a life-long process that impacts all involved over the course of their entire lives. The good news is that generations of adult adoptees and their families have taught us much about their struggles. As a result, there are now abundant services for adopted children, which produce many success stories!
Is your gifted child intense? Do they struggle emotionally or socially? Has your child been diagnosed with ADD, Autism, or another disorder you suspect may actually be "giftedness" or 2e - Twice Exceptional? Often gifted children experience real challenges in these areas. Parents struggle too - considering important decisions about testing, misdiagnosis, acceleration, and clustering.
