Services
Stacy Hernandez is the owner and founder of Affinity Counseling. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in the Knoxville area, originally from Georgetown, Texas. Stacy is a certified in Acceptance and Integration therapy. She graduated from Hardin Simons University in Abilene, Texas where she received her MA in Family Psychology.
Our therapists have spent years in the school system and working with agencies in the community and understand what it takes to enter their world. Many teens are facing so much turmoil and confusion in the world today and often do not have a resource to confide in. We use a combination of active listening, artistic expression, physical activity and talk therapy to relate and connect with your teen.
During this stage of life teens are experiencing Erik Erikson's stage of Identity vs Role Confusion. During adolescence the transition from childhood to adulthood is most important. Children are becoming more independent, and begin to look at the future in terms of career, relationships, families, housing, etc.
Whether you are facing a challenge in your personal life, suffering from depression and/or anxiety, having relationship concerns or needing support and guidance, counseling can be the best thing for you! A specific counseling modality will be used that best fits your need. Support, compassion, acceptance and empathy will be given here at Affinity Counseling!
The short answer: If you want to learn, grow and work to improve your life then YES it will work. The long answer is different people fit with different kind of therapist and so it is best to find one that is a "fit" for you. Find one that you feel relates and empathizes best with your needs. In fact, research shows, the better the fit between you and the therapist, the better the success of therapy!

Stacy talked about her daughter during our meetings more than my mental health when she found out her daughter and I went to the same school. It got even worse once she found out her daughter had one of my teachers for a class that she hated, so what did she do? She complained about my teacher and her bad teaching..in our meetings!! She really wasn't helpful at all, and funny enough, my friend just finished with her, and had the same issues as I did with her. I have not seen her in three years, but I find it quite ironic that my friend ended up at her office just a few months ago, and complained

This therapist did not communicate client's intent to commit suicide. Client was placed in a in patient mental hospital after visit for suicidal ideation. Therapist was not honest about the seriousness of the suicidal intention. Would not recommend based on lack of transparency.
