This place is a-bustling. I think the servers have learned how to move at the speed of light.
Came in here a week ago and couldn't get seated because there was too much demand and not enough servers to go around. Tonight we were seated immediately with a limited menu. The limited menu is meant to help them speed up service and meet the demand in spite of the staffing shortage.
No problem-o. My tacos were still on the menu.

Frustrating experience with the manager. Great when they get the order right, don't expect compensation or any desire to make it right when they don't. I got a combative manager who then, get this, got our order wrong. We've been meaning to check out the other restaurants in town, now we have a great reason to do so. The staff is GREAT. Really like the lovely people at the pick up window. Maybe retrain the manager.

Over priced, weak drinks, and food never tastes good. Definitely the worst place to go downtown. Service has been slow all times I've gone.

This place used to be 5 stars but for the last few months the quality has just gone downhill. We tried them again on Saturday and multiple items were either ordered wrong or we did not even receive the items we ordered. When I told them about the mistakes it was " ok, sorry" the item we did not receive was removed from the bill but that was all. My family and I will head to a new Mexican restaurant in the area now.

Food was decent nothing to write home about but would probably return. However it took over an hour for my online order to be ready when online it said twenty minutes I had to wait outside in the heat and there was nothing I could do since I paid already. They need to get better service.

It's a fun place w/ nice outdoor tables in a real cool laid back town.

Good tortilla soup. Great salsa and chips - that comes with beans...

There's a good chopped salad w/ Walnuts and Cranberrys too.

We decided to give La tapatia another visit in hopes that things would be better. We ate out on the patio and had really good service and the food was fantastic and the drinks were well prepared. I had the carnitas dinner which was a total home run, my son had the steak ranchero which was awesome and my wife had a shrimp fajita plate. We enjoy the bean dip as well and the guacamole was really good definitely coming back

I've been coming here for years. This place is one of those rare restaurants that actually improved over time.

I almost always order the Shrimp A La Diabla dinner. My wife always order the a la Cart Tacos, and the kid always gets the bean and cheese burrito. Yes, we are annoyingly boring customers here. But since we are so predictable our food always comes the way we like it.

We feel like family here. Thanks to all the folks working here for always making us feel so welcome. The food is always delicious.

Now I broke a little with tradition and changed my order to a shrimp a la diabla

I honestly don't know why anyone would come here when there are so many other options for Mexican food. The food is sooo bland! The salsas they bring to the table have absolutely no spice or flavor to them. The beans were just alright. My food was eh. Very underwhelming, don't get the appeal.

I'd definitely recommend going to La Primavera!

Went there tonight for a pick up order. We are reoccurring customers until recently. Food was incorrect (drove 3 hours before finding out) and spent $40. Not happy and not sure we will ever be back

I dined in at La Tapatia over the weekend as a central meeting place with a few friends. My favorite part of this restaurant is that when you are dining in and ordering a meal, you not only get free chips and salsa, but you also get a yummy cheesy bean dip! I ordered one of their more popular dishes, the #1 combination with a taco and enchilada. The taco was great, but the carne asada enchilada had nothing other than meat inside it - no cheese, so sauce, just meat. Other than that, I really enjoyed my meal. Big portions also provided me with leftovers.

Five stars for Rene. Five stars for his attitude, for his kindness and for his special salad which is the BEST THING you won't find on the menu. Will always come back for him! And another five stars for Lalo who is Lalo and needs no other explanation!

After our weekly walk at the Martinez waterfront, decided to have lunch at La Tapatia. They had a green salsa, red salsa and bean dip with the complimentary chips. Great dips eaten separately or altogether. My wife had the beef enchilada and the chicken taco combo plate. I had the Santa Fe chopped salad with chipotle dressing. Both meals hit the spot after our 3 mile morning walk. Want to come back to try the chile rellenos.

La Tapatia is currently offering limited indoor seating, as well as an outdoor patio area. Staff was friendly and helpful. Aside from yummy not-too-hot green and red salsas paired with thin and addicting chips, they also serve a bean dip that is excellent. My enchiladas verdes were ok. They didn't seem to have the flavor I was expecting. The second day leftovers were more flavorful, so that excited me. The guacamole was really good, and that is usually what will earn my following at a new Mexican spot. The food was served quickly on a Monday evening. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but

This review is for a to-go delivery order via Door Dash. My husband and I were craving for our favorite Mexican Menudo and we found this restaurant amongst the numerous Mexican restaurants listed in Door Dash. We thought of trying it since it is a local restaurant around our vicinity, and we love to support local businesses. We weren't disappointed at all. They packed everything well and complete with proper utensils for everything. We loved their chips and salsa. OMG. I ordered a lot of it. I'm the type who would eat a bowl of Mexican Menudo with crunchy chips, not the soft tortillas

I decided to do “pick up” for the first time in a year and was glad this was my first stop, I have eaten there before but it was nice sitting at home and enjoying great food and no clean up.

Had a good takeout experience, but the food itself was just so so. Carnitas were pretty dry, tacos weren't anything special, but we were pleased with the diablo burrito. Margaritas to go was a nice touch, they were tasty and delicious... and had a catchy label. Service was speedy and pleasant, and all of our food came out correct.

12 crispy chicken tacos at La Tapatia = $40.
12 crispy chicken tacos at Cinco De Mayo = $20.

My review started at 3 stars.

Food is fine. Good bean dip and salsas. *Plus one star.*

Unsure why the food costs twice as much (or more!) as any other Mexican joint. A single, basic crispy taco is $5.25. That's one taco, nothing else. *Minus one star.*

Servers are absolutely fantastic, though, and are the reason we go back. Love those guys. *Plus one star.*

Owner raises prices every 6 months... yet no staff gets raises. Instead owners proudly charge customers an extra 3% to "retain kitchen

We live close by and LOVE having them within walking distance. Our go-to is going in on Taco Tuesday and ordering a pitcher of marg's. Typically places go for itty bitty tacos on their Taco Tuesday, but not at La Tap's! There's a server there by the name of Lelo who we love to visit with. You'll never run out of chip, or margaritas here!

PS - Be prepared for giant burritos, packed with flavor!

** The following review reflects my dining experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. **

Listen, I had no expectations of what the dining scene would be like in Martinez, the county seat of Contra Costa and a city I had never visited before my recent visit to the Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline. I looked for the highest rated restaurant on Yelp, and this standard-grade Mexican restaurant showed up high on the list. So after taking a walk on the winding George Miller Trail, I drove here and took my chances on a menu I had never seen before.

Meanwhile, I started to
