Creating a sustaining loving relationship requires couples to consciously negotiate mutually agreeable expectations as well make reasonable accommodations for each other. When couples move from the fantasy phase of their relationships (in which they agree about most everything), and into the reality phase (in which they discover their differences and may have power struggles), they often may experience disillusionment and frustration.

Through learning more effective coping strategies, I can help you reduce your loneliness, your anxiety, your frustrations, and your irritation. I can help you lessen your codependency and self-defeating choices, and become more independent, happy, and confident. Falling in love is a natural process, blending our emotions with physical and chemical responses. But sustaining a caring relationship requires more than having warm caring feelings. Important components of a partnership include mutual respect, affection, a sense of goodwill, emotional safety, persistence, humor, honesty, and motivation.
Life can be like a roller coaster -- a thrill ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. When your life takes a downward turn, you may find yourself overwhelmed in dealing with seemingly impossible issues possibly including an unhappy relationship; a relationship that ended without warning; difficulty making new friends; feeling generally inadequate; loneliness; mounting pressures at work; and/or headaches that won't go away.
I've assisted hundreds of individuals and couples to learn how to overcome adversity, reduce distress, learn better-coping strategies, make healthier decisions, and take positive action to have a satisfying life. With twelve years of college and more than 35 years of counseling experience, I've dedicated my life to helping clients increase their happiness.
I'll answer your general questions about therapy, and provide you with an overview of therapy. The general information below will help you understand my office procedures. If you call after office hours, leave a message and your call will be returned on the next regular business day. If, after office hours, you have an emergency that is causing you severe stress, call our answering service directly at (800) 673-0240.

Money well spent. Husband was skeptical of the process and doubted how much progress could be made.
He says "Joan exceeded my expectations, and not only helped put our broken home back together, but better. We are more connected and understand each other more than ever before."
You can see a novice many times at a lower hourly rate, or an absolute expert to save time and money.
