Emergencies are accepted anytime the hospital is open. Emergencies can be things such as poisoning, severe injuries, bleeding, seizures, hit by car. Greenfield Veterinary Hospital is proud to have served the Pittsburgh area since 1979. We are a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories.
We understand that pets are a part of the family, and your pet's health is our number one priority. Yearly exams and preventive care can help deter many serious health conditions and provide early detection of diseases. All surgical patients are placed on IV fluids to stabilize blood pressure during all anesthetic procedures.
From the parkway, take exit 74 (Old exit 5) and at the second stoplight, make a right onto Hazelwood Avenue. Our hospital is at the top of the hill on the right. Make a right onto Frank Street and a quick right into our parking lot. Greenfield Veterinary Hospital is proud to have served the Pittsburgh area since 1979.
We do require a deposit equal to an exam fee when scheduling your pet's first visit. This deposit is refundable if the appointment is canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. This policy has been established in order to provide the highest level of veterinary care to all of our patients.
Don't be afraid to utilize supplements! If your pet is anxious, there are numerous supplements available over the counter that can help your pet during anxious times. For dogs and cats, there are products such as Zylkene and Composure. There are also calming sprays and wipes that use pheromones to calm your pet (Feliway and Adaptil).

We very unexpectedly had to put down our dog Vega. I called first thing in the morning when she started acting odd, and they were able to get her in a half hour later. Unfortunately we found out she only had a few days left. We were able to take her home for one last day with us, and took her back the following day to be euthanized. Dr. Handke was very empathetic and made this grieving process a bit easier. Thank you.

Took one of my boys for his annual shots and had them do blood work just to be sure he's in good health I've been going to the greenfield vets for over 35 years now and always grateful 🙏 for the great service,the staff,and just the all around tremendous service they provide my four legged family members are in great hands with these folks grateful to have them in the community

No one ever picks up the phone!!! Left a voice mail and never heard back. How am I supposed to get an appointment if no one answers the phone and you don’t reply to voicemails?! Been like this in the past 3 months… This is so frustrating because greenfield vet used to be so much more responsive…. Please hire more vet tech….

I had a great first experience with Greenfield Veterinary Hospital. Their new facility is beautiful, and Dr. Winnie and all the staff were welcoming and helpful from the start. I learned a lot about my dogs and their health in my visit! You can really tell how much they all love the animals that they serve. Thank you so much for all you do!

They just moved into a beautifulnew building across from Calvary Cemetery. The space is clean and welcoming and very spacious. There is a parking lot. The exam room was modern with an exam table the folds up and down from the wall. the price for checkups and vaccinations for three cats was reasonable and the tech and the vet were very gentle with my cats!

I really liked them until they would not make an appointment for our dog who they have treated. Not a new patient. We spent several thousand dollars last year to make Murphy better, and our boy has been doing… great for the last year. Now he's got the same thing going on again and instead of seeing him, they referred us to emergency vets. Not only are we worried about what is going on, Murphy will have to deal with new people while he's sick, and now we have to pay substantially more. Have never heard of a vet that doesn't fit in very ill existing patients. I'm very disappointed and upset

They made a same-day appt for my dying feral cat. She was in extreme kidney failure and every other vet required new patient protocol before they would put her down. Mobile vet was unavailable for several days. The compassion that was shown to my friend and I and to Bear was very comforting. She went quite peacefully and finally free of pain. What a great team of caring professionals we have at Greenfield Veterinary Hospital! Thank you all. 💜

9 years ago they told us we had to put down our Labrador... said he had double ACL tears and hip dysplasia. That he’d have a low quality life. Well we got a second opinion and he only had 1 ACL in need of repair. The surgery went fantastically well and I have an 11.5 year old boy and a lifetime of fond memories and adventures with our nature dog. He has had a good and full life ... I’m so glad we didn’t listen to the advice from greenfield veterinary

Just wanted to say thanks so much for being amazing. Brought in a kitten that’s I’d just rescued and you guys took such great care of him. You guys were the best vet experience I’ve ever had. I just had to take my cat in to be looked at yesterday, emergency status, and they fit me in on a Sunday, and gave me the best care for him, considering his condition. I had him looked at twice prior, and all those vets did was leave him in pain. Although I had to put my baby down, I can not express the gratitude that I have for the entire staff. It was a horrible situation, but they helped me through the grief. I am ever so greatful!!!
