Holos Institute
Whether you are navigating a specific life issue, or seeking more freedom and harmony in your life, Holos can help. We offer nature-based workshops and retreats to the general public that incorporate nature-based therapy processes. We also offer continuing education programs for MFTs, LPCCs, LCSWs (and for some programs, PhD's and RNs) grounded in the principles of Ecopsychology.

Holos serves as a unique leader in ecopsychology educational programs for both the licensed professional community and for environmentally aware individuals. We host an annual EcoPsychololgy Conference that draws together a rich group of environment aware professionals. Holos Institute is dedicated to providing affordable, holistic therapy to the communities of the Bay Area.

Ecopsychology best describes the philosophical framework of Holos Institute. It is an approach toward healing in which the human mind and body are viewed in their relationship to nature and the whole web of life. Ecopsychology offers a philosophical ground for deeper understanding of human problems and practical approaches for healing and transformation.
If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear. People who can open to the web of life that called us into being. The crises of our unprecedented times need leading edge solutions. Psychology can play a part in helping to change attitude, perception and behavior.
Holos offers an ongoing series of educational programs open to both the general public and to psychotherapists. All of these offerings resonate with the Holos vision of an integral approach to healing that considers the body, mind and spirit as well as the greater community in which we live.

Our presenters are each a specialist in their field and bring a breadth of vision from cosmological perspectives to the mindful explorations of depth psychology. We strive to offer innovative and creative approaches to current topics in clinical psychology. Jan is the director of Holos Institute where she provides individual supervision, oversees clinical policies and operations, and organizes the public educational programs. Jan is a pragmatic dreamer and licensed psychotherapist, in practice for more than 30 years.

As a supervisor and consultant, her philosophy is that each therapist is unique and the process of training is primarily one of guidance, clarity and collaborative discovery of the inherent gifts of each individual. She encourages creative solutions backed by sound clinical judgment. She supports trust in intuition and the cultivation of wisdom and kindness.
Laura provides group supervision and some individual supervision for Holos interns as well as maintaining a private practice in Oakland. I have practiced psychotherapy for 20 years. My work is grounded in multi-dimensional listening.

I help clients tend the threads of the inner and outer, sacred and mundane, visible and invisible, remembered and forgotten stories that echo through personal history, the body, ancestry and culture, the transpersonal and the earth.Because these stories make us who we are, we can't NOT belong. Remembering this begins to mend the personal isolation afflicting so many in hyper-individualistic American society.
