Keeping a pet happy and healthy takes quite the commitment. We must feed them, shelter them, help them stay fit and give them lots of love and affection. We must also ensure that they have access to the highest quality health care available throughout their lives. That's where the team at Santaluz Animal Care comes into play.
Dr. Laura Johnson grew up in San Diego with her parents, sister, and plenty of family pets. She always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but it wasn't until college that she decided to follow her dream. On her 27th birthday, she asked herself what she really wanted to do with her life: veterinary medicine was the clear answer.
We want to hear from you! Our family calls Dr. Johnson "the cat whisperer." She has treated our family pets for nearly 18 years and we have the utmost faith in her expertise. We are also in awe of her insight. Perhaps it is a result of her tremendous and genuine compassion for animals, but no matter how baffling or conflicting the symptoms, she always seems to be able to find the right course of action for our cats.
As pet parents, we want our animal companions to live as many years as possible. At Santaluz Animal Care, we believe the best way to accomplish this is by making a commitment to ongoing wellness care. After my vet retired (she was a remarkable vet) I felt somewhat lost. I am involved with street cat rescue and need a good vet that understands the cat ailments, the complicated immune system of cats and one that treats them all equally. I tried many others until Dr. Johnson was suggested to me. I have now referred others to her as well. She is very capable, she doesn't pad the bill like so many other vet offices do, she is gentle and caring. I seldom recommend vets because so many are, frankly, not very good. Not the case here, Dr. Johnson is a very good vet.

We are moving soon but we will always make the drive back to Santaluz Animal Care because my nervous boy cries and refuses to enter any other vet. But at Santaluz, he can’t get in fast enough to see everyone! I am so happy that they treat him well enough for him to be so eager to come back time and time again. Their fear free practices 100% work for him! Thank you to Santaluz and we will see you soon for annual exams!

Eight "good" months. That's what the Santaluz Animal Care gave to precious 19-year-old companion, Jester. Her loss of mobility led me to reach out to Dr. "Laurie" Greenlee Johnson, DVM and Veterinary Acupuncturist about the cost of euthanasia. She told me she didn't like to do it without trying some things first. After running tests, she found that there was a medicine and protocols that would help Jester. I learned how to give her subcutaneous fluids as she needed that daily. We went to "Dr Laurie" for acupuncture and cold laser therapy about twice a week. After her second session , Jester was

We brought our pup, Rosie, here and we were impressed all around! Rosie had a tough life before joining our family so she is a very fearful, timid, and unsocialed girl. This clinic was amazing handling her and it helped me feel at ease. I would highly recommend Santaluz Animal Care. Beyond our good experience, little Rosie has never been cleaner and her groom looks amazing.

Dr. Laura Greenlee Johnson is one of the kindest and gentlest souls I have ever come across.
She has taken care of my loving dog Buster since he was about 6 months old until his final day last Saturday, at 18 years old.
She has been a true blessing in our lives, and I am sure that his longevity was due in a large part to the wonderful comfort and medical care she provided.

I was looking for a nearby vet to look at my young cat, ' Leia' that had an eye problem and went to Santaluz Animal Care. Dr. Johnson and her staff were all super friendly and professional. After the initial exam, I got eye ointment and the Kitten Package where they microchipped, provided all needed shots and nail trim for my 'baby'. My biggest highlight of the visit though was discovering that 'Leia' is actually a boy (I was told he was a she by the seller). I know that my cat received excellent care and will go back again.

I took my dog Milo to have his teeth cleaned at Santaluz Animal Care. What a great place!
This is a "Fear Free" clinic where low futons replace metal examining tables and the staff clearly loves animals.
My dog has anxiety but was very comfortable in this setting and with Doctor Johnson and her staff. He now has sparkling clean teeth and is a happy camper.
Everything was well-organized from making an appointment to checking in and pick up. The staff kept me up to date, they even sent me a photo of Milo as after the procedure to reassure me that all had gone well, and they called the next day
