A program for those who have low back pain with or without sciatica and those who have a history of back pain. After the first episode of back pain your back is more vulnerable to re-injury and your back pain may become chronic.
A program for those who have knee or hip pain and arthritis. As well as for those who are heading for hip or knee joint replacement surgery (pre-op training) and for those who went through initial physical therapy after surgery (post op training). Did you know that muscles play a critical role in supporting your hip/knee joint and relieving pain and discomfort?.
SI-joint dysfunction is very often a source of a hip or low back pain because the sacrum is mechanically associated with the spine as well as affected by alignment and movement of the femur. Any lumbar spine, pelvic and hip region asymmetry and muscle imbalances, leg-length discrepancy or loss of motion in one joint may alter forces and can affect abnormal mechanical stress and symptoms in the SI-joint.

I was so lucky to find Tulla and PhysioWise. I am about to get a total knee replacement and my doctor suggested I get my knee as strong as I could prior to surgery. I can say without a doubt that my knee and whole body are much stronger. I feel confident going into my surgery knowing that I am strong and will recover much faster. Thank you Tulla. I highly recommend Tulla for rehabilitation before or after surgery . She is so knowledgeable about the body and you will learn so much to use going forward.

Tula is wonderful, and her services have improved the strength and balance in my muscles to protect arthritic knees (without any pain after any session). She is detailed in alignment and far more knowledgeable than any other Pilates instructor I have been to (she was a PT in Finland). I am so glad to be getting stronger, without pain!

I had the privilege of working with Tuula while visiting my daughter this September. I have enjoyed Pilates for several years and Tuula takes it to another lever. She is knowledgeable and intuitive. She taught me so much about my body and how it works. I have been able to incorporate her lessons into my practice back home. I can’t wait to get back to Carlsbad and work with her again!

I am avid road biker who use to suffer from back and shoulder pain. Traditional physical therapy didn't help. I was looking for a specialist who can help me strengthen my core and rehabilitate my shoulder from an old injury. I found Tuula at PhysioWise, Carlsbad. She is a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor originally educated and trained in Finland. Her program to reduce my back pain and improve my shoulder range of motion allows me to move without pain. I can ride longer without my back getting tired. I credit her program to where I can now comfortably ride centuries. I can warmly recommend

Tuula helped me get me back to where I needed to be. I had no idea what Pilates was before working with Tuula. I had knee surgery last year and felt like the PT I went through after my surgery was not enough. After reading her website I signed up for 5 sessions. My legs and core never felt stronger and will always remember her for helping me through the recovery of my surgery and the education I received in the field of Pilates. Thanks again Tuula, hope you are doing well!

Tuula showed me that Osteoporosis doesn't limit your ability to do Pilates or exercise. Through her knowledge of phyiology and safe movements, she guided me through Pilates with a focus on buliding core strength. Tuula watches every move and works with me to improve balance and posture and at the same time, doesn't let me slack off during the session. I came her for help with a limitation and ended up being a happy client for over 4 years because it was fun. I recommend Pilates PhysioWise for anyone who is looking to come out of a physical setback and wants to emerge strong and confident.

I recently had a terrific massage from Lily Bren neck at Pilates PhysioWise - Carlsbad. She has a magical touch, and was able to help get rid of my aching neck pain and shoulder soreness after just an hour session. I would definitely recommend her.

Tuula's background in physical therapy elevates Pilates experience to a whole new level. She has been the only instructor I have worked with who helped me to improve my posture, properly strengthen my core and, most important, reduce the pain I am constantly getting from an old back injury. She knows how to chose correct exercises for client's specific needs and she is truly invested in the client's success!

Tuula has a rare combination of extensive experience & knowledge in PT and Pilates. She is truly a rare find! On top of this her European approach to patient care is very personal and friendly - unlike any I have experienced in 100's of hours of PT before. I have 20+ years experience trying many different modalities in conventional and alternative treatments for recovery and pain from 3 surgeries. Lastly she loves her work and does not charge an arm and a leg like most other treatments I have tried before.

Tuula is a physical therapist and a Pilates instructor. She is frankly the best I have ever worked with (note: I have had to go to physical therapy on a regular basis since 1996 so I know an excellent instructor from a just okay one).
She guides me through my work, knows exactly what my body needs and I am so grateful. I am stronger, more agile, more flexible because of her abilities.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER WORK and I plan to continue with her weekly for a long time. It has made a huge difference in the quality of my life.

I have been taking Pilates and physical therapy from Tuula for 4 years now. She has helped me tremendously with my pain, strength, mobility, balance and positive attitude. (Constant pain makes your brain hurt too) I saw her pre and post surgery for a discectomy, lumbar and cervical fusion. I like her "Pain=No Gain" philosophy. She is from Finland so a lot of her education does not translate to the U.S but I find her much more educated than most physical therapists I have encountered. She has an attention to detail and also a compassionate personality that is important when you are
