Services
Angel Espinoza Jimenez, born in Tlaxcala, Mexico, was surrounded by great food and a large family. Being the youngest of 10, little Angel helped his mother, Raquel, in her culinary duties. He calls his mother "the magic maker" in the kitchen. Growing up this way helped him to understand the mystery of making a simple salsa, using just chiles and tomatoes.

Friendly staff, prompt service, tasty food! The sea bass was exceptional and the enchiladas rojas were quite good too, although the sauce was a little thin. The Mexican hot chocolate and red sangria accompanied the food quite nicely. We were too full for dessert but it looked great too. Lots of kids in the restaurant and everyone looked happy. This is a popular place! It was hopping when we were there on. Saturday evening.

This was hands down the most disappointing food I have had in a long time. The mole sauce, which is according to their menu a signature dish, was served overtop an overcooked grilled chicken breast... not slow cooked/stewed as I anticipated. The rice and beans were fine, not stellar, but for the price they didn't even include a fresh garnish. My husband had the enchiladas that were so empty, he announced he was still hungry after the meal. We are not huge eaters, but do appreciate delicious food. This was not it.

Sat at the bar because it was busy but they got us in. The food came out quick the appetizers came out with the main courses. Drink came out quick, bottled beer and a special margarita. The mole was amazing. The sauce of the fish tacos was excellent as well. Try this place you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I are from out of town and just happened upon this restaurant. Loved the atmosphere! The inside was very cutely decorated and the word that comes to mind for the outside seating is "oasis". It was fairly busy but we got seated right away. Initially we were seated right near the door with a lot of staff and patrons coming and going so we asked to move to a table tucked in the corner that was empty. Once we got moved, I think we got a little forgotten about. It took about 10 minutes to get water and put in a drink order. Once we were finished our meal, it seems like we sat for at least

If you want truly amazing, authentic, fresh and delicious Mexican food, this is the place!! Wow! Everything is cooked to perfection by master chefs! I had the carnitas dish that was out of this world and the guacamole was the BEST that we have ever eaten! I also had a margarita that was exceptional!
Last but not least, the service was A++, with very attentive and caring servers!
We will definitely return to Xicohtencatl Restaurant the next time we’re in Great Barrington! Hands down—it is one of the best restaurants anywhere! Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!!
