I'm Monica Lau, a professional photographer living and working in the heart of Kailua, Hawaii. Photography has been my way of celebrating the joy of life ever since I was a Communication Arts major in my hometown of Chicago. The 30 year career started when I was first published in the Chicago Tribune in 1987.

Monica is a fantastic photographer and curated a really fun experience. The experience included a video consultation to go over the look I was going for and what options were available, a photoshoot with wardrobe changes, and then a follow-up photo reveal back at the studio after she narrowed it down and retouched the best images. The studio is beautiful and comfortable and Monica was patient and fun. I highly recommend this woman for all your professional photography needs. Mahalo, Monica!

Monica Lau has been taking our family photos for years and she never ceases to amaze us. Her photos are extremely stunning and capture the true essence of our family. I'm so impressed by her ability to capture the true spirit of my children who are not easy to take pictures of. They looooove working with her! She has unique photo shoot ideas that are creative and she makes the whole experience a fun and relaxing adventure. We will go back to her year after year for sure!

I first went to Monica to create a memorable 50th Anniversary photoshoot for my parents. I had the typical "family on the beach" images in mind, but with her advice and her eye, what we received is personal heirloom-quality portraits that draw out each individual's personality. Monica takes her time with each step of the process: planning the shoot, day of with hair/make-up/dressing changes, and then the "Reveal." During this time, she gets to know each subject and makes them feel like they are the most important person in the room. She is not just a photographer, she is a professional portraitist

What an Artist! Monica did a session with my husband and I in our backyard. Monica has the natural ability to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and this put my husband at ease immediately. Needless to say the photos came out spectacular and one photo became 5 beautifully framed portraits that we will cherish forever.

We did a virtual photo shoot with her over facetime/skype - the experience and photos turned out amazing. She captured a side of our daughter that we had never seen before. Monica has an amazing eye and brings out the beauty in her subjects. Highly recommend!

Monica Lau is an amazing artist! She easily captures the beauty and personality of whoever she photographs. Both my husband and I have hired Monica for business-related photos, but recently we asked Monica to create portraits for our high school senior. The results were incredible! Monica's portraits truly showcase our daughter's best features and character. Someone had posted Monica's work as a Facebook post and decided I really wanted to have her take my daughter's photo. I appreciate the initial planning meeting talking about the look I wanted her to help me create and the brainstorming involved.
The day of my daughter's photo shoot was an "event" which included hair and make up. Not makeup done by amateur mom, but "photography makeup" and hairstyle to compliment the different looks we were looking for.
My daughter is somewhat shy and it takes a while to warm up, however, Monica did such a good job of getting her engaged and enjoying the experience
