Services
Midtown Animal Hospital is an established, full-service, veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care to small animals in the heart of Sacramento. Serving pets from midtown, downtown, East Sac, and more for 50 years. Our veterinarians and veterinary staff strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years.
I have been a veterinary technician for 25 years, most of that time at a small practice in the east Bay. I have studied and attended many management courses over the last ten years and I was happy to join Midtown Animal Hospital in late 2015 as the Practice Manager after relocating to Sacramento. I truly enjoy my role supporting our great veterinary team and the fabulous midtown community of people and pets.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. We can board dogs, cats and pocket pets. Reptiles and avians may be accepted on a case per case basis. We are able to offer general boarding as well as medical boarding to animals that require medicines to be administered and need more careful monitoring.
Dr. MacKie received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 2005. Following graduation, he moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete his residency training in Cardiology from 2006-2009.

Dr Dinger and the Midtown staff have been exceptional in the care provided to my dogs over the years. I've moved a bit and have changed vets a few times, but this remains my favorite and I'm delighted to be a client of theirs again. They're worth every penny to know my dogs are well cared for. Thank you guys

Dr. Dinger doesn’t call patients back via phone only email. I’ve never had a vet refuse to talk on the phone. Also, his opinions and assessments were inconsistent with two other vets. In fact, the other vets basically laughed when I told them what he said to me. Seems like he his old medicine and not up-to-date. Would highly recommend you check out another vet before going to him. Definitely the worst vet I’ve gone to in the past 20 years. He will be “too busy” to provide care.

I've been taking my pets here for 10 years. They are great with them and are honest about options and prices. I've never felt pressured to make certain choices. They know me when I walk in and have always been helpful. I have moved away from midtown, but still bring my pets there.

Midtown Animal Hospital is absolutely the best. The. Best. I moved here from a small town up north with my 2 cats, one of whom is 16 years old. My 16 yo had begun having digestive issue and losing weight and did not take well to the move and I was beside myself. I am very bonded to my cat, Padme, and she to me and she doesn't like many other people. My gf took her bunny to MAH and recommended them, this was at the beginning of the pandemic, a very difficult time all around.
The staff and doctors at MAH are kind and caring. They helped Padme, after a lot of work (Padme is quite feisty) and when
