What systems do you have in place that will keep you in constant contact with me during the listing and the transaction?. Are you fully automated with your own personal computer, FAX machine, copier, voice mail, etc.?. Every seller wants to realize as much money as possible when they sell their home.
Before you put up the "For Sale" sign, start your "Spring Cleaning." This is the perfect time to take inventory, and get rid of the things you don't want to move with you to the new house. Get Rid of Clutter. Our biggest challenge is junk accumulation, an American tradition. Clean out the clutter in closets, cellars garages, and attics.
All doors and windows should be in good working order. Clean and paint doors if necessary, wash all windows and replace any broken or cracked window panes. Screens should be free of any tears or holes. Inspect all locks to ensure that they are functioning properly. When placing yourself in the potential buyer's shoes, you will want to consider the overall atmosphere of your home.
Start by thinking about your situation. Are you ready to buy a home? How much can you afford in a monthly mortgage payment (see Question 4 for help)? How much space do you need? What areas of town do you like? After you answer these questions, make a "To Do" list and start doing casual research. Talk to friends and family, drive through neighborhoods, and look in the "Homes" section of the newspaper.
