Hope Alive, Inc. began in 1974 as a support group for women experiencing anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Meetings were held at a local college, at churches or in homes. As a result of the great need she observed, Milli Bishton (our founder and former director) returned to college to obtain counseling credentials.

I am beyond impressed with the Love, Compasstion, and Intentional care the staff gives the women. They are taught life skills and prepared to enter back into a traditional living environment. They work with the girls on developing self discipline, provide counseling, and a host of other helps. The staff is very professional, yet very relationally oriented. I have been blessed to watch them work with the women. It really is an incredible place.

I’m a 62 year old female. I lost my husband of 43 years in January. I had to move out of my apartment and needed housing until I can get on my feet. I was told by a staff member that you have to be able to cut grass and shovel snow. I told her I don’t think I can do that , I’ve never cut grass in my life, my husband did those kind of chores. I told her I will do anything else, scrub toilets if I have to. She said no, it’s a requirement that you have to cut grass and shovel snow. I think it’s a shame that they would let someone walk the streets because they’re not able to do those things
