Wonderful find while running errands. $30 for this meal + iced tea. Nice folks, who checked in a couple times while I was eating on the patio, which I especially appreciated since I was the only one out there (tend to get forgotten). Meat falls off the bones and had a nice smoke ring. Three sauces: house (sweet), OG (tangy), and jalapeño (my favorite).
The only drawback was that their wash station didn't have any soap.

Time to eat crow. I received a coupon through Uber Eats and made slightly wiser decisions on what I had delivered. I ordered the Pork belly sliders and the Mac and cheese balls.
The sliders were absolutely delicious. There was a good crunch to the pork and the slaw had just the right kick. The buns were toasted to perfection and there was absolutely no sogginess that I had previously experienced with the pulled pork. Execution was on point.

Enjoyed the experience of great food, good customer service, good variety of beer and cider. The beef ribs were mouth watering falling off the bone, superb no extra house sauce needed. Recommend the sampler plate and add a sausage. Coleslaw is nice and mild with a slight vinaigrette ending, so eat to the last bite. Beans a little sweet, pulled pork was good and needed to be paired with the house sauce but the beef brisket was perfect and flavorful.
When your done, the food is so good your going to want to thank the chef personally. Highly recommend.

Undeniably bad service, that I simply can't shake. My boyfriend ordered the Carne Trio, vía Grub hub for pick up. Oddly, me and a few other customers were told to "cancel our order", but I advised the cashier that I just ordered my own food, I wasn't serving the app. After 35 minutes of waiting, and watching the cashier go back & forth with the chefs, one of them approach's me and asks what I ordered. Came here for the first time due to the reviews and unfortunately it was quite a disappointment! At first everything was fine when we first arrived, we were greeted right away and was not rushed in taking our order since it was our first time. Located in El Cajon with its own parking lot so parking is no problem. Clean establishment.
I ordered the beef ribs with cornbread and the shhh puppies.
Beef ribs were dry and hard for the majority of my half rack!
Cornbread was huge and very dense but delish with their maple butter.

Stopped in for lunch while in the area. First- we love bbq & realize there is a lot of time & prep to mage a good bbq,
We ordered the brisket sandwich & the pulled pork sandwich. We had to pay extra for cole slaw & fries.
The sandwiches were very good. The cole slaw was tasty. The fries were ok. Not a bad lunch but after the cost of paying for the add ons it was a pretty expensive lunch. Probably would not return. I suggest they need a combo.

Awesome place! My boyfriend and I tried the pulled pork, tri tip, chicken, mac & cheese balls, mexican corn, & coleslaw and everything tasted great! We’re pretty picky on BBQ sauces, but the three offered were delicious. The staff was so friendly & the inside was cute! Prices seem expensive initially but the portions & quality of food are worth every penny.
The only negative was they didn’t have football playing on a Sunday, but were apologetic & tried to put it on for us. Highly recommend giving them a try! We’ll be back :)

Stopped in here for lunch after church and there was no wait! The staff was friendly and helpful (we were first timers) and the food came out pretty quickly. Delicious tri-tip, perfectly creamy coleslaw (not too heavy on the mayo), & perfect Texas toast! The restaurant features some different BBQ sauces, but they tasted fairly similar and the jalapeno one didn't pack much heat, just FYI. I didn't have room for dessert but all 3 options sounded delicious! The decor is vintage and goes well with the vibe inside. We hope to return soon!

I was disappointed with the food and it's a rough neighborhood. If the former was better, the later wouldn't have mattered so much.
I ordered the sausage platter. The sausages were ground too much for my taste and the texture lacked as a result. I'm assuming that they were made on site but it might be nice if they offered a few varieties in the platter. The taste was nothing that jumped out at me with pedestrian seasoning.
I tried each sauce and couldn't substantially tell one from the other. We know it's tough to keep

DELICIOUS wish I'd taken a before picture.. beef ribs were sooooo tender and flavorful, onions rings were perfectly breaded and had big thick onions inside, shhh puppies, everything was Delicious! Great selection on draft and also in bottles/cans and even a good wine selection!
Nice outdoor patio , but cool indoor decor too!

What an amazing culinary experience! I mean close your eyes and let the food speak for itself and boy does it speak fantastic barbecue.
This was our first time here and although they are open for indoor dining we had to take it out for an event.
Pure bliss! The beef & pork ribs, the mac & cheese, the baked beans, slaw and the BREAD PUDDING....
So from what I understand this is California BBQ and it's flavor profile it's smoky with a hint of spice/heat. I have never been to this side of the BBQ spectrum but I know i enjoy it a lot more than KC or Texas barbecue.

There are a bunch of 2 story apartments around here. I remember days of old living in various apartments like these and playing outside watching the cars go by. Buckboard's Barbeque and Brew is an interesting mix of old and new. Solar panels line the roof. Rusted corrugated metal lines the front facade. Inside is an ancient cash register.

We ordered Buckboards BBQ twice using Uber Eats and both times were fantastic! We ordered a variety of items for the whole family. Buckboards has a variety of quality smoked BBQ items such as beef ribs, baby back ribs, smoked chicken, juicy tri tip, pulled pork and smoked brisket and sandwiches.
