The Shepardson Family Funeral Homes are a full-service provider of affordable funeral and cremation services. We serve the Greater Syracuse Area. We are founded on the knowledge that we offer a more reasonable option than many local funeral homes. We urge a return to traditional values, beliefs, and cultural practices that are often compromised when traditional funerals cost too much.

The growing trend toward personalized last rites is really just a return to the ways our ancestors faced the reality of death. At the Shepardson Family Funeral Homes, we believe we have a responsibility to care for families and loved ones, by offering support during the funeral proceedings and through the difficult days ahead.
Services
The Shepardson Family Funeral Homes are owned and operated by the Shepardson family. A family owned funeral home will be operated by people who share values, ideals, and concerns with the community they serve. The Shepardson family owned funeral homes serve and adjust to the traditions and customs of the people who live in our neighborhoods.
Christopher Shepardson operates the family business to serve the families in the central New York community. Christopher, licensed since 1991, has been active in all roles at the funeral home and has served on many boards and civic organizations here in the Syracuse area. Thomas Shepardson, the former president and manager of the firms, died unexpectedly in 2003.
Shepardson Family of Funeral Homes offers the best funeral service value in Central New York area and we can prove our claim. Our primary purpose is to serve our families with the care and dignity they desire. We provide services that are reasonable and fair. Our facilities are comfortable and spacious.
At the Shepardson Family of Funeral Homes, we offer many services, including cremation. Direct cremation is a process by which the deceased is cremated without a viewing or a traditional funeral ceremony. Direct cremation requires no embalming and may save a significant amount of money in terms of overall funeral costs.
The traditional funeral service is often held at the mortuary chapel or at a church selected by the family. During the service, the casket may be open or closed, depending on religious customs and personal preferences. After the service is complete, family and friends of the deceased may drive to the cemetery for a brief graveside committal.

GCS recently handled my mother’s funeral arrangements. Over the years I have attended many funerals at GCS including my father’s service five years ago. Unfortunately, I couldn’t have been more disappointed with my mother’s service. They obviously took very little time with my mother’s appearance. They are supposed to be the professionals yet I’m quite sure I could have done much better using products from my own make up bag. Make up should cover and enhance yet every imperfection and mark on her face could be seen. They used a neutral lip color and no color on her cheeks. Her eye sockets

If I could give them 100 stars I absolutely would in a minute. They handled my Grandfather’s funeral and services and everything was done perfectly. They are reasonably priced and value perfection while showing compassion, empathy, and understanding. They did not have the moment be about them but rather about my Grandfather. Everything was down with grace and perfection and truly honored my Grandpa and his legacy. I cannot say enough amazing things about them and truly thank them for everything.
