Services
John Krtil Funeral Home; Yorkville Funeral Service, Inc has been providing you with quality funeral services since 1885. We are one of the oldest independently owned and operated funeral homes in the entire country. We're just minutes away from all major NYC hospitals and nursing homes. We are within walking distance of most foreign consulates, which has facilitated our specialization in the shipment of human remains worldwide.
Cobblestone streets, two-way horse drawn traffic on the avenue, the ring of anvils as hot iron was hand forged into tempered steel: this was 70th Street and First Avenue, Manhattan, circa 1885, the year that John Krtil Funeral Home came into existence. The Krtil men of that era were immigrants from what would become Czechoslovakia.
For affordable and reliable traditional funeral services from licensed professionals, turn to John Krtil Funeral Home; Yorkville Funeral Service, Inc for help. My family and I were extremely pleased with the courteous and attentive services from the staff at Krtl. I was forced to arrange the funeral for my Aunt while out of the country. All of the arrangements were made easily and carried out flawlessly. Angel and Rob arranged for the Funeral Mass to be livestreamed so that I and many others were able to feel as if we were there to celebrate my Aunt's life. Many thanks to the Krtl staff.

Due to Covid and my inability to travel to New York City from Washington DC, I depended 100% on John Krtil Funeral Home to guide and assist me with every detail. I first placed a phone call at 4:30am and Angel returned my call at 5:30 am or so. Angel handled all the details with great compassion and provided outstanding service. I highly recommend John Krtil in times of need for their professionalism, caring and going the extra mile for my family.

My mom lived in the neighborhood for years, so when she passed I wanted to use Krtil. They were wonderful! And they got back to me quickly. I would refer everyone to Krtil.

Didn't handle the crowd at the funeral I attended. We were crammed in and a line out the door, but no one from the funeral home made any attempt to manage the crowd until after the funeral had ended.

My friend's wake was there. Not the best of occasions, but it is a funeral home after all. He had a lot of visitors so it was a bit cramped.
