From our first meeting, John Lane patiently walked my wife and I through what could have been an arduous estate planning process. He answered our many questions, sometimes, the same questions, thoroughly and at a level we appreciated. John is very articulate, professional, and personable. Not only do we highly recommend John's services, we will count ourselves as returning clients, if the need arises.
My wife and I highly recommend John Lane and his excellent staff! We recently sought legal counsel with John M. Lane Law, PLLC, to handle our estate planning needs. John Lane prepared our Last Will and Testament, Durable Power of Attorney, and Medical Directives for both my wife and I. John was thorough and professional in preparing these important documents and was informative in explaining their legal meaning.

Comprehensive estate planning covers nearly every aspect of life. It begins with protecting yourself and your personal dignity, and extends to protecting your loved ones and your hard-earned assets. There are myriad legal strategies you might consider implementing as you design your estate plan. Regardless, there are a handful of "must have" estate planning documents you must create before anything else.

You should have: (i) a will - everyone needs a will; (ii) a health care directive for decisions concerning treatment when you cannot make or communicate your own wishes; (iii) financial and health care powers of attorney authorizing "agents" you know and trust to take care of your financial matters and make your health care decisions when you are unable to do so yourself; (iv) a declaration of guardian to appoint back-up parents for your minor children in the even of your death or incapacity; (v) a legal authorization that allows a loved one or friend to access your medical information; and (vi) a trust (based on your situation) to manage, protect and eventually distribute your assets.

Are you a "mature" American age 65 or older, do you care about someone who is, or do you anticipate becoming a mature American yourself? If yes, then you are in good company. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Americans 85 and older are the fastest growing demographic group and, right behind them, 79 million baby boomers are moving into retirement age themselves.
There can be extreme grief and pain at the loss of a loved one. Beyond grief and pain, when you add external stresses to the equation you can have a disaster on your hands in very short order. Part of the responsibilities or duties of an executor or administrator of an estate can be to reduce the level of stress during the probate process.
If you ever listen to talk radio on Saturday or Sunday mornings, then you might hear a financial expert taking calls and giving advice on investing and asset protection. While this expert is obviously trying to attract some new, wealthy clients, the general principles he or she extols should work whether one is wealthy or middle class.

We moved to Texas from Arizona in 2018 and knew we needed to update our Estate Planning documents. That never sounds like something you want to run out and take care of. They made the process easy and painless. We contacted John and Charlee of John M. Lane Law and they did an awesome job in taking care of us. After an initial interview John understood what we wanted to accomplish. He listened carefully, providing great feedback and ideas, and addressed our questions thoughtfully and directly. While our estate is not complicated, we felt important and valued. He gave us several action items

John Lane law has been a huge help since the loss of my mother. John and Charlee made the probate process for my father seamless and stress free during such a tough time. Impressed with the attention to detail and level of service he received, the rest of the family have hired their firm to handle our estate planning needs. Throughout the entire process, we were treated with dedicated professionalism and kindness.

If you are looking for an attorney to significantly over charge you for probate documents, John Lane is your man. Make sure you want someone who cannot satisfactorily answer any of your questions, and who refuses to set up your asset allocation the way you would like. For $4,000 we received constant frustration and a whole bunch of un-executed documents filled with unnecessary legal jargon and very little substance. But keep in mind since he refused to have them executed, (or even give guidance on how they should be executed) that his documents are completely worthless, as is his guidance throughout

My wife and I have been delaying setting up a will and other end of life documents for several years. We were referred to John M. Lane Law, PLLC by a trusted adviser. John proved to be just the person we needed to walk us though this process. With only two meetings and a little input on our part John provided us with the documents that we felt met our needs and addressed situations that we had not even considered.
I would recommend John to anyone based on his ability to explain different options available and situations that could occur. He is thorough and completed our documents in timely fashion

When faced with the need of a good attorney for what I considered a very important life decisions on family law, and I found difficult to find an avenue that met my requirements, I interview several Lawyers in the Austin area. John Lane was firmly the best pick and I am very happy with the results. I changed some of my original ideas when discussing with him, he proved to have some times a neat and better solutions in many aspects.
Several attributes I valued are:
He was not afraid to bring in different alternatives that I could not ever thought of.Showed his skills working with people and stuck

I made an appointment with John for a consultation on my moms estate- I am executer and needed to make sure I was on the right track. He answered all my questions so I asked him to help get my own affairs in order. Now I am comfortable that my son will be able to take care of things when that time comes. John is great at educating and to the point. His services were reasonable as well. I'll recommend him to any friend.

We went to John to fix our wills, family trusts, etc. We had hired another firm to do it and they were all wrong and not what we wanted. John fixed it all, explained it all to us so we could understand "legal speak" and made sure to personally guide us through the entire process. I highly recommend the John Lane Law Firm to anyone needing help.

My wife and I had been putting off our estate planning for a number of years. When we finally began to get serious we searched the local north Austin area and found John M. Lane's Law practice with very solid reviews. We reached out to John and he could not be more supportive, informative and professional in ultimately setting up our family trust. He walked us through the process and took the time to answer our questions so that we had a clear understanding of what we needed and what was best for us and our family. We have recommended John and his team to our friends and would happily recommend

If you are in need of an attorney for your estate planning: HANDS-DOWN - Mr. John Lane is your ticket. He is FANTASTIC!!!
We were concerned about updating our wills and needed a good attorney. We Googled for the best estate planning attorney and John's name popped up. We called three attorneys and he was the only one that returned our call. The other two calls were retuned three and four days later.
We made an appointment.
We arrived at his office, were warmly greeted and promptly brought into his office. He was very cheerful and immediately made us feel at ease. He has a great personality

I lost my mother earlier this year and was in need of getting her estate in order. We had called many people to handle this important business and half of them didn't even know what it was that needed to be done. Finally found Mr. Lane and he was the most polite and courteous person from the very first phone call, which he answered himself I might add. I received the services I was in need of very easily and at very affordable rates. I recommend this firm to anyone looking for an honest and hardworking lawyer to handle your needs.

John Lane provided excellent advice and service in preparing our estate documents. A recent move forced me to clear out a safety deposit box and I realized I hadn't look at our wills in nearly 20 years. John had good Yelp reviews so we set up a meeting to review our current situation. He provided a very personalized plan that worked for our situation. I feel this is the best thing about seeing him, no two situations are the same and he details an estate plan that is individualized for each family. He also provides everything in a very neat and organized binder that allows you to reference

We moved here from out of state and needed to update or change a 20 year old Trust written in California. We were encouraged by several families to contact John M Lane Law. John explained in detail the differences in estate planning between California and Texas laws, asked us extensive questions, and answered all our questions and concerns, in order to prepare for us a new estate plan. The completed document is accurate, precise, indexed and bound. John also mentioned that it is easy to make changes down the road if necessary. I will highly recommend.

After a big move from California to Texas and the subsequent passing of my husband, I needed changes to all my estate planning documents (trust, will, etc). John was very professional and knowledgeable about the different requirements needed. He was so kind in his dealings with me and went to great lengths to explain what was being done and why, especially concerning Texas requirements vs. what I had in California. Very reasonably priced. I highly recommend John Lane.

I had a really fantastic experience with John Lane. I needed Estate Planning services for myself, as we all need to be prepared. I met with him and he asked me an extensive list of questions in order to prepare not only my will, but also my medical power of attorney and other important documents. He made the process easy to understand, and provided valuable advice.
All of my documents were ready the next week to sign, and then a few days after that, ready to pick up. He provided a digital copy, as well as a hard copy for me to have. The hard copy was presented in a very nice partitioned folder

I contacted Mr. Lane via his website to get my father's estate and trust documents updated and in proper order. He spent a lot of time discussing the specifics of what needed to be done. He was quite patient with me having to get info from my father and to accommodate some changes that my father wanted made.
Mr. Lane is very thorough and makes sure that he drafts documents that accommodate the exact wishes of his clients and advises on any changes that need to be made to comply with the law. I would recommend him to anyone and plan on seeing him for my own estate planning in the near future

I consider John Lane a true blessing. I attended one of his Estate Planning seminars and quickly learned how unprepared I was as a single woman. And not just me...but my entire family. I was raised in a typical-Hispanic household in a small, Texas border town, where the man, in this case my Father, was the sole provider and Mom stayed home to raise the kids, cook, clean, etc. Money was tight for a family of six, but my parents made it work. They had little in savings and limited assets. Fast forward twenty years...the parents are much older and the roles have been reversed. It is now time
