We know your print work is important to you but just as important is how it is finished. It needs to be cut precisely or maybe even coil bound. Finishing a print job is important and we take great pride in making your printed pieces look their best. How does Uptown Color deliver such great print quality? By investing in the latest - and best - print technology available. But even more important than that, each piece of equipment in our Richmond, VA shop - from scanner to digital press - is run by the most highly trained technicians who've worked on countless jobs just like yours.
We recommend a print-quality CMYK PDF, flattened with fonts and images embedded, and crops and bleeds. We can also accept all standard formats, but there may be extra set up involved. We can accept most any file output from the standard applications. Primarily, we work in the Adobe Creative Cloud environment (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator), so any files from those native applications should be fine.

I couldn't have more love or a more wonderful review than I do for Uptown Color! I run my own Art/Printmaking business, and do all of my digital printing through them. I'm in the shop about once a week and I am always greeted by such kindness and warmth from Pen at the front desk. Every single print job I've sent in has been PERFECT and have all gone through Tim! Our company was in a bind due to the printing company we usually use dropping the ball. We weren't going to get in print orders that were needed by the next business day after waiting over a week to receive them.
We contacted Uptown Color to see if they were able to help and they were able to get us the print orders the SAME DAY that we called. The turn around time was flooring to us! The quality was amazing and the team we spoke with was beyond professional!
We will definitely be utilizing this amazing company again!

I've worked with Uptown several times and am super impressed with their quality, responsiveness and professionalism. For my print jobs, I tend to get several quotes before deciding who to work with. I ALWAYS go with Uptown because their prices are the most reasonable and I always feel appreciated as a customer. Highly recommend this business!

I’ve used them for business cards, save-the-dates, wedding invitations, legal CLE binders, and big card stock and foam board charts, and they always do an amazing job! Everything always looks great! Foy years, Uptown Color has been my go to place for printing. They have given me good, fast service at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Last year, I printed my book at another place in Richmond and ended up paying 250% more for the same job than I paid Uptown when I needed printing the updated version (no fewer pages, same quality paper, same type of bonding, etc). The job was done when promised. Also worth a mention, you could email the PDF file and go to location when ready for pickup. Excellent service and workmanship!

These are the only printers I will ever use! Their quality and speed was better than Fed Ex Office, at about half the cost, on a project I needed printed twice. Of course there were last minute edits and they make it really easy to get a proof and resubmit if everything doesn't look just right. I have used them for conference flyers,my save the dates for my wedding and some corrogated plastic signs for another event. I will definitely be ordering more from them.
Also I don't know of this is on purpose, but they use very minimal packaging which is really nice of you have to travel with

I feel like this review is long overdue. I love supporting other local businesses and prior to discovering Uptown Color, I was unfortunately using FedEx Office for all my print jobs. In my experience, it's always a headache when using big chains for printing because the service is so inconsistent. Just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get due to the turnover that most retail chains have. One employee at FedEx might be fantastic, and the next time you go in they are gone and you have to deal with some grump or noob who doesn't know what they are doing or

I'm a small business owner so I have worked with uptown color multiple times and they are always so helpful. They are quick and everything that I have picked up from them has been very high quality. Their staff is amazing and everyone that I have encountered has been wonderful to work with. Just today I emailed them about an order that I had placed and the paper color that I selected just didn't look right to my client. This was totally MY fault and they were able to do a quick turnaround and get the prints fixed for me within hours, my client was so impressed that I was able to get them

Walked in this morning to get business cards printed up. Front desk lady was very unhelpful, bordering on rude. I have been getting my cards printed here for years, like the past 15 yrs. so they have my card on file. I needed a couple of changes, like to add a website & take my phone number off. Lady says "nope can't do that". What do you mean? I ask. She says they don't do any layout at all. Really? They can't take a line off my card & add another? She shrugs & says,"I guess go find a graphic designer to do it".

I am so annoyed that I even have to write this. Uploaded all my files online and they had me pick them up 30 minutes before closing just for me to go home and realize they did not print all of my files, but charged for them. Not to mention I needed these printed by tomorrow morning for a project. UGHHHHHHHHH

Their website gave me the option of picking up the proof on 8/24 @ 5:30 pm.
I called 8/24 @ 2:30 pm to follow up since I hadn't heard from anyone with confirmation.
I also called to ensure they had all the info they needed to have the proof ready today.
Tim answered the phone...and Tim is rude.
Tim's first question was: What paper gauge to you want? And what gloss spec?
I responded with "card stock & matte finish".
I then quickly asked, if these were questions you needed to do this, why hasn't anyone called me to ask me?

I thought it might be nice to do business with a local vendor but either they are too busy for new customers or just don't care. I waited at their entrance area for five minutes and staff repeatedly made eye contact with me but no one walked over from their elite backroom hideaway to help me or another customer. Thankfully there are plenty of online vendors ready to take my order and overnight my materials at likely the same price and perhaps with better customer service.

This place is awesome. We sell art prints, and Uptown Color is cheaper and better than any of the other places we've tried, even the big national companies. They are also nicer and more knowledgeable. As I type this, I'm in the shop after hours waiting while they finish my print run -- I need it by tomorrow, so they stayed late to get it done. Local really is always the way to go.

I love giving business to a local, non-chain business, but it is a no brainer since they offer the best quality and service. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and understanding. Turn around seems super fast and faster than I deserve since I am always last minute (shame on me). They really do go above and beyond to provide a great service!
