We are a full-service veterinary hospital located in West Columbia, SC, that takes pride in our ability to provide careful attention, concern, and expertise when it comes to the medical needs of the pets within our community. We have been serving West Columbia, SC, and the surrounding areas for over 18 years.
More commonly referred to as Dr. C, Dr. Candra Smith Chambers is a graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University. Upon graduating, she worked in private practice and a mobile preventative practice. Then Dr. C became a part of the Van Crest Animal Hospital (and Boarding) team in 2003.

The ideal candidate fulfills many roles within the hospital setting, including surgery assistance, collecting and conducting laboratory tests, patient nursing, triage, emergency care, client support and education, record maintenance, cleaning and stocking the premises, and working with and supporting your fellow employees.This individual must be detail-oriented and well organized.

Prevent Plans are yearly plans that include preventative care such as exams, vaccines, bloodwork, fecal testing, radiographs, dentals, and spay/neuter surgery, for a low monthly membership. It helps you provide the best preventative care for your pet while making it easier for you by spreading out the cost.
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is an exciting time for your family. Van Crest Animal Hospital's veterinarians can help you start your new puppy or kitten off right. Our veterinarians recommend that you set up your pet's first visit with us soon after adoption.

My baby Barney (dog) had a broken tooth and after a Petrifying experience with a different vet, I took my dog Barney to Dr. Chambers and his team.
The previous experience was so traumatic for Barney and myself that I was beyond nervous when Lex took Barney to the back to draw blood. (I did share with her the previous experience)
When Lex came back out, she told me that everything went great - that he was nervous at first but took her time to calm him down and then chop chop it was all done.
After the surgery, Lex sent me the sweetest picture of my baby - when he woke up he started whining so

Extremely friendly staff and caring doctor. They saw us on fairly short notice. Patiently answered my questions and worked with me by offering multiple options to suit my financial situation and do what needed to be done to make sure Reese was taken care of. Will definitely be making this my pet's veterinary clinic. I would recommend them to anyone who has furry family members!

Positive: Professionalism, Responsiveness
I have an elderly chihuahua with congestive heart failure and Dr. Nick was very comforting and professional. Everyone I encountered was nice and compassionate. There will be a time when treatment is at an end and I feel comfortable having Van Crest and Dr. Nick helping me through the decision making process.

Everyone was very nice and showed a lot of love to my puppy. They were very kind and inviting, they also showed attention and care towards my very attention loving 3 year old. My dog was comfortable and seemed to warm up to the staff quickly so he clearly trusted them as did I. Im very satisfied with thr entire experience and look forward to taking my puppy back for his next appointment.

Absolutely LOVE Van Crest! Both veterinarians are absolutely phenomenal! They have taken SUCH good care of my two sweet babies over the years. The whole staff is incredibly respectful and as a client, I can always see how much everyone in that office genuinely loves caring for animals. Appointments are consistently timely, effective, and very affordable. If I could give this office ten stars, I would! 😊

Absolutely phenomenal vet’s office!!! These people truly care about the animals they see!!! It is a family business- the husband and wife both are vets and they have taken great care of me and all my pets and my parents pets too!!! Today they treated one of my foster pups- I love these guys- I know I’m in good hands when I’m there and my pet is too!!!

I love Vancrest Animal hospital. The Doctors are always professional and listen you your concerns. They treat my pets lovingly and my pets are always happy to go to the vet, even when they don’t feel good. The Doctor duo team “The Chambers “ are such wonderful people.

We took our 8 week old kitten in today. After being that this vet a few times I deemed it safe enough to bring our newest baby in. They told us he had an ear infection. We left with medicine for his ear. A few hours later when I come home I see that his left eye looks pretty bad. I was sure why so I called the vet. After they returned my phone call I was told the doctor say “Yes, we did get medicine in his eye, but we cleaned and washed it.” But they did not tell us when we picked him up!!!! I was then told to pick up eye medicine for him but I have to pay $30. In my opinion, I shouldnt pay
