Services
Providing innovative care for individuals and communities living with the harmful impact of stigma and untreated addiction and mental illness. Be the transformative entity that frees our communities from addiction and mental illness. 50% of the people who have a severe mental health condition also have a substance abuse problem.
Originally founded in 1970 as Drug Action of Wake County, SouthLight's doors first opened as a 24-hour crisis center where we provided substance abuse services from a rented house in Boylan Heights near downtown Raleigh. Led by a small group of volunteers - local physicians, psychiatrists, and clergy, Drug Action of Wake County offered hope and opportunity to heroin users and troubled teens.
SouthLight restores lives and renews hope to those in our community who are living in and through substance use and mental health challenges. By offering a broad array of services that treat the whole person, we help individuals move toward what matters. We educate, engage and empower the journey. Providing alternatives for drug and alcohol first-offenders through education and substance use assessments.
We are one of the largest nonprofit behavioral healthcare providers in the area, meeting the needs of about 9,000 clients every year. We are always looking for talented, compassionate people-counselors, providers, nurses, administrative staff-to join our SouthLight family. At the core of SouthLight is a commitment to our values, our employees and clients.

If I could give 0 I would. Tells you to show up 30 minutes early just to wait around. Tells you that you'll be seeing a provider when in fact you won't be. Let's you leave the physicality KNOWING you're out of meds that could be life threatening. Treats you like a drug addict when you're infact not. Then treats all the addicts walking in like they're the best of pals. None of the staff members could own up to their mistakes. Rude front staff member names Amanda really should consider a new line of work. Assuming she's working with mentally ill people. Very rude

1 star is required but not deserved. They treat you like a criminal even if you have no record. No one takes responsibility for their mistakes. It seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing there. The hoops you jump through just to get screwed is countless.
