The ladies up front are so sweet and were able to answer all my insurance questions when my plan changed. The back office staff (Dentist Assistants) are wonderful. Lets be honest, most people hate going to the dentist and avoid it. I am one of those people. I don't get excited going to see Dr. John, BUT when I have to or need to go, he's always made me feel at ease and always took excellent care of my teeth.
I wouldn't go anywhere else. To me, he's the BEST in town! Awesome experience at this dentist! Dr. John Cannariato grew up in New York and left in 1992 to attend Florida State University. In 1996, Dr. Cannariato began classes at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, from which he later received his dental degree. Had the most fantastic experience I've ever had for a cery long time at a dental office. The hygienist was great. He listen and was gentle when cleaning my teeth. Didn't use cold water and the device that spray water out at me when cleaning my teeth to reduce the sensitivity of my teeth. Gave me tips to help with sensitivity. Everyone in the office is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I haven’t been to the dentist in 4-5 years and knew I had some work ahead of me. Both the hygienist and doctor made me comfortable, listened to any concerns, and thoroughly explained my treatment plan. I had only seen one dentist my entire life, so going to someone new made me nervous, but I’m so glad to have found this place!

I have been going to South Tampa Smiles since I was referred here when I moved to the area in 2015. Dr. C has such a great personality and can be such a jokester at times. Kathy is amazing as well, she has helped me with claims and my insurance provider and most recently helped me find emergency dental services for my 4 year-old grandson. I rave about them so much my family and coworkers are now patients. Dr C is super kind and positive. He is expensive and doesn’t take a lot of insurances but totally worth it. He is trust worthy. I’ve heard nightmare stories of franchise dental places taking advantage of patients. It’s best to go with this small practice. The staff is nice as well. Can’t praise Dr C enough. He’s really good to me and I’m a big baby.

The dentist & dental assistants are very professional, friendly, welcoming & warm. It is clear that everyone here is treated well & likes their job. I have been coming to this Dentist for years. They are always attentive, caring, and provide the best cleanings I have received. Also, they are reasonably priced for those without dental insurance so it’s always my #1 choice. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new / different dentist.

Friendly staff and good Doc, but wow is it expensive. I was charged over $2700 for a root canal and crown. Was there just about an hour. Afterwards, I contacted 4 other dental offices to see what the cost would have been, all stated between $1250-$1600.. Recommend going about 10 miles out of South Tampa and you will save alot of money.

I had my upper fillings done by Dr. Benedict and she has magic hands. It's a bit hard to truly see but her work on redoing my silver fillings to composite is amazing. She molded them perfectly and the best thing was the aftermath. The last time I got my fillings done here in Tampa on Dec 2016, there was some discomfort for a few days and when that dentist called me, he said it was normal. I rather have no discomfort at all after such procedure therefore having my future cavities filled (hopefully none- Eek I hate those needles) or silver redone, the best dentistry to come to is this place

This is hands-down the best dentist I've ever been to. I've been seeing Dr Cannariato for 6 years now and I recommend him to everyone. He's extremely friendly and most importantly, extremely honest. Where in the past I've had dentists tell me I've needed certain procedures he's admitted that I do not and can simply use dental hygiene products found in your local drug store to help combat the issues Im facing - in this case slight gum recession with exposed dentin. Avoid this dentist! Since his treatment of me I have had to spend thousands of dollars, and so many hours of pain and anguish, to try to restore what was before a perfect smile. Please take a word of advice, if you need a root canal or a retreatment root canal, seek a specialist. Dr. Cannariato juggles multiple patients, gave me incorrect information, and he even chipped one of my front teeth while working on the other. I am very sorry I trusted him and the reviews I saw about him. That was probably the biggest mistake of my life. After seeing another dentist, I know now what a great dentist

I was a little nervous when I got here because there were a bunch of cars in the parking lot. I thought, "great, I'm going to be here for 2 hours." Once I walked in there I was welcomed by the sweetest front office staff who took my paperwork and even walked my ID back to me. I've only had a cleaning and exam so far but my experience has been awesome. The amount of time I was there was pretty close to what they estimated over the phone.

I was referred to this office via a Yelp friend. The office was easy to find and they were very accommodating to my schedule. I just needed a cleaning and check-up, so I took advantage of their "cash patient" pricing which was $95 for cleaning, exam and X-rays. My 8 yr old accompanied me so they were kind enough to keep an eye on him in the waiting room. The dental assistant was very nice and thorough. After my cleaning the Doctor came in to check her work and go over my X-rays. Total appointment lasted just over an hour and I left with some beautifully clean teeth. I would only suggest

I went here for to get my teeth cleaned and came out feeling so satisfied! Not to mention the place is so clean. They were very polite and helpful. I am the type of person who can't deal with the instruments in my mouth and will gag and choke when they try to take x-rays. The hygienist was amazingly patient and dealt with me so professionally and even was able to make me relax. I will never go anywhere else but to South Tampa Smiles and can't wait to refer them to all of my friends and co-workers.

Very positive experience here. He completed a lot of fillings for me that we're done poorly prior and I feel confident that he actually did them right as opposed to my dentist in Gainesville. I definitely feel comfortable returning to this office for check ups and hopefully no more fillings or crowns.
