Troy Ziel Photography
Troy Ziel leads his life by combining heart, passion and entrepreneurship through various forms of expression including fine art photography, running a successful graphic design studio called ZielCreative, and working on commercial assignments and commissions. His foundation of study came from working with film long before the digital camera ever emerged on the scene.

He fell in love with the magic of the darkroom, diving into technique, studying alternative films and processes. He earned a B.F.A. in Fine Art in 1998 and currently lives in Emeryville, CA - just a stones throw from San Francisco where he works on commissions when not traveling on assignment. What is fascinating about Photography today and what you can do with digital cameras, is the manipulation of time.

Documenting rural life around the unique "Bamboo Railway", offered an unexpected warmth outside of the very hot, humid weather. It was the open hearts and kindness of the Cambodian people. Their eyes were so warm, inviting and friendly. The Children living in make-shift homes next to the bamboo railway were some of the most joyous little ones eager to take you by the hand to show and tell what they proudly do in their village.
I cannot help but take notice of everything that is amusing around me. Largely I thank human beings for this because each one of us is an individual, free thinking and able to do or say what we choose, often resulting in the opportunity to look more or less presentable or sometimes foolish. On this planet, we all stand on the same ground, living our lives.
Tangence, a creative marketing agency hired me to create an HD Video Tour for Vantage Data Centers. This video is of their data center facility in Santa Clara, CA. I shot and produced all the Video, edited it and recorded the voice-over. This video is used as a marketing tool to reach potential clients that want to tour the facility virtually, plays in a loop in their lobby on HD screens, as well as on their website at www.
I was approached by Jane Leider of Haute Home Linens all the way back in 1998 where she had me create a pochette for our first project together. Since then, we have worked together for many years and french boutique words became a natural part of my vocabulary. This catalog was our largest project we produced together.
The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a museum in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The site is a former high school which was used as the notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21) by the Khmer Rouge regime from its rise to power in 1975 to its fall in 1979. Tuol Sleng was only one of at least 150 execution centers in the country, and as many as 20,000 prisoners there were killed.
