Services
GEM Health Care Group is a Nova Scotian, family run business which has been progressively enhancing the lives of seniors in the communities where they operate since 1979. The first facility acquired by GEM was a combination of three Victorian homes where the design, which included many stairs, was not practical for seniors and hampered the ability to deliver effective care.
At all of our GEM locations, we foster an environment that is caring, respectful, and fun! We are an extended family that cares for each resident just as they would want someone to care for their own family. Whether it's retirement living or long term care, you will receive the support you need with highly trained and experienced staff on-site 24 hours a day.
Enrich your retirement years with good friends and easy access to everything you're used to. GEM Retirement Living offers comfortable accommodations and supportive services that are catered to your individual needs. You're as young as you feel! Independent living is the best option for seniors who want to maintain their active and independent lifestyle without the worries of home maintenance and household chores.
Our long term care facilities are licensed and funded by the provincial government. They provide services for those who need ongoing care, either on a long term basis (permanent placement) or short term basis (respite care). There are two types of long term care facilities: nursing homes and residential care facilities.
What's the difference between Retirement Living, Assisted Living, Residential Care, Nursing Homes, and Long Term Care? Retirement living, also commonly referred to as independent living, is for those who may not have the ability, or the time, to maintain their own home, but wish to live as independently and actively as possible.
